The Canadian Lightning Detection Network(CLDN) helps meteorologists and scientists detect and monitor thunderstorms at an early stage in their development. Eighty-three sensors are set up across the country forming the Canadian portion of a North American network which is the largest of its kind in the world. The CLDN is able to detect more than 100 000 lightning flashes an hour. Within 40 seconds, the sensors determine the stregnth and location of lightning, send the information to Environment Canada's weather centres and then map out the information on a computer screen. 1, record 1, English, - Canadian%20Lightning%20Detection%20Network

1, record 1, French, - R%C3%A9seau%20canadien%20de%20d%C3%A9tection%20de%20la%20foudre

Each summer, Sweden welcomes competitors from over 21 countries to the five day "O-Ringen" competition--the largest Orienteering Meet in the World. Filmed during the 1973 meet in Rättvik, this film follows young and old of all sizes and levels of ability as they wind their ways, with map and compass in hand, along prescribed routes through the countryside. As well, it reports on the daily events of the competition and gives a good picture of its general organization. A motivational film What Makes Them Run? is particularly suited for showing by fitness groups, recreational services and high schools. 1, record 2, English, - What%20Makes%20Them%20Run%3F

1, record 2, French, - Pourquoi%20courir%3F
