Many participants contribute photographs to provide a record of the development and activities of the Community Forest. A Community Forest Image Management Tool has been developed to assist in keeping track of these images, and making them available over the World Wide Web. Images, which can be photographs, sketches or maps, are assigned to categories. The location of images of a particular Category within the Community Forest area can be determined by clicking on a map of the area. The Community Forest Image Management System permits setting up the map, creating and editing categories, and assigning images to the categories along with caption and other related information.

The Global Assessment of Human Induced Soil Degradation(GLASOD) was conducted by the International Soil Reference and Information Centre(ISRIC) at Wageningen, The Netherlands, as commissioned by the United Nations Environment Programme(UNEP). ISRIC produced a 1 : 10 million scale wall chart in 1990 and subsequently produced a digital data set. In essence, the GLASOD data base contains information on soil degradation within map units as reported by numerous soil experts around the world through a questionnaire. It includes the type, degree, extent, cause and rate of soil degradation.

Almost 70% of the Earth's fresh water is contained in the Antarctic region, and changes in this enormous reservoir directly influence world sea levels and climate. The new digital radar map will provide an unprecedented detailed portrayal of the surface form and features of the ice sheet. The Canadian Lightning Detection Network(CLDN) helps meteorologists and scientists detect and monitor thunderstorms at an early stage in their development. Eighty-three sensors are set up across the country forming the Canadian portion of a North American network which is the largest of its kind in the world. The CLDN is able to detect more than 100 000 lightning flashes an hour. Within 40 seconds, the sensors determine the stregnth and location of lightning, send the information to Environment Canada's weather centres and then map out the information on a computer screen.

Overview of resampling methods. From the perspective of space, a satellite camera or sensor takes images that provide unique Earth information at scales ranging from very small to very large. To better understand an image, its shape, scale and perspective often are changed by rectification, orthorectification or map projection to relate it to real world coordinates. During that process, however, gaps between pixels may form, requiring that images be resampled to fill in those missing pixels. There are basically 3 methods of resampling : nearest neighbor, bilinear interpolation and cubic convolution.

As well, it reports on the daily events of the competition and gives a good picture of its general organization. A type of map projection introduced by A. Peters in 1973. It is a modified version of the "cylindrical equal area projection." The usual grid of 180 meridians and 180 parallels is replaced by a decimal degree network dividing the globe both E and W and N and S into 100 fields without losing accuracy of direction.
