Everything that we can see and touch is made up of particles, the basic building blocks of nature. Many technologies we commonly use today are the results of research spin-off from particle physics. These byproducts were developed to build and run experiments or to support the activities of the particle physics community. Two impactful examples include medical scanners used in hospitals and the World Wide Web. Both are indirect products of fundamental research conducted by particle physicists while conducting their primary research.

Every drug receives three distinct names : the chemical name, the generic(or nonproprietary) name, and the brand(or proprietary or trademark) name.... Although the manufacturer or sponsor of the drug has exclusive right of manufacture during the 17 years of the drug's patent, it never owns the generic name.... In the United States, the generic name must first be approved by the U. S. Adopted Name(USAN) Council and then by the World Health Organization(WHO).... After approving the generic name, the Council submits the name to WHO, which has final approval.... After being approved by WHO, the drug is assigned an international nonproprietary name.

CONT

Once a chemical substance has become frequently cited in the literature, it will be identified with simplified nomenclature popularly known as a "generic" name. This nonproprietary name is preferred in database indexing over all other types of drug nomenclature. MEDLINE [registered trademark] cites the United States Adopted Name (USAN) as a standard, when available. USANs are officially approved designations adopted by the FDA for uniformity in labeling and regulatory references. EMBASE®, on the other hand, prefers International Nonproprietary Names (INNs), promulgated by the World Health Organization, as drug descriptors. Caution: the USAN and INN "generic" name for the same drug may differ. Other official nomenclature standards include: British Approved Name (BAN), Nordiska Farmakopenamden (NFN), and Dénomination Commune Francaise (DCF).

The learning theory of Thorndike represents the original S-R framework of behavioral psychology: Learning is the result of associations forming between stimuli and responses. DEF

... the formal notification by one State to another State, usually by diplomatic note, of the name of an air carrier chosen by the designating State to use all or certain of the market access rights received by that State under its air transport agreement with the second State.

CONT

Current policy provides Air Canada and Canadian Airlines International with the right to enter unserved markets in their allocated territories of the world. This has the effect of blocking a service interest by any other Canadian carrier, even if the designated carrier chooses not to commence its own service. Effective immediately, any Canadian carrier may apply to the Minister of Transport for designation to operate in countries where the currently designated carrier is either not operating or is "under-utilizing" the designation.

CONT

The general principle is that any assumption that leads you to a contradiction must be false. Thus, if you can deduce a contradiction(using valid rules of inference) from a certain assumption, it is legitimate to conclude that the assumption is false. Indirect proof is an extremely useful method, both in logic and in the real world. In real world arguments, if you can start from your opponent's premises and derive a contradiction from them(which is frequently possible), it is a very powerful refutation of the opponent's position. It is because of the usefulness of IP(indirect proof) that I have decided to introduce it right away.

So far, Canada has been slow in building the right sort of training "bridges" to carry young people successfully from the world of school to the modern world of work. Increasingly, it is clear that successfully building these "bridges" will require close cooperation among governments, educators, employers, unions and communities.

"It is... declared to be the friendly right of each member of the League to bring to the attention of the Assembly or of the Council any circumstance whatever affecting international relations which threatens to disturb international peace or the good understanding between nations upon which peace depends". This appeal by a third state, a member of the league, will serve the same purpose of laying the facts before the world, and when the Secretary-General transmits the appeal to the Assembly or to the Council the public is... given notice of the nature of the controversy. Whenever there exists a threat of war, the Secretary-General is required upon the request of any member of the League forthwith to summon a meeting of the Council. Such a call would focus the opinion of the whole world and might help to prevent war.
