WOUND ROTOR [5 records]

Record 1 2016-03-03

English

Subject field(s)
  • Electric Motors
DEF

An adjustable speed motor that behaves at all speed settings as a varying speed motor.

OBS

[It is a motor] in which speed can be adjusted gradually, but once adjusted for a given load, will vary with the change in load.

OBS

Examples include a wound rotor motor with an adjustable rheostatic speed control.

OBS

adjustable varying speed motor: term and definition standardized by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) in 1996.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Moteurs électriques
DEF

Record 2 2014-09-09

English

Subject field(s)
  • Stators and Rotors (Electrical Components)
  • Electric Rotary Machines
DEF

The process of starting a wound rotor induction motor or synchronous induction motor by connecting the rotor winding initially in series with starting resistors which are short-circuited for the running condition.

OBS

rotor resistance starting: term and definition standardized by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) in 1996.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Stators et rotors (Composants électrotechniques)
  • Machines tournantes électriques
DEF

Record 3 2010-04-21

English

Subject field(s)
  • Electric Motors
CONT

Direct-current axial air gap motors are often referred to as disc motors and there are basically two types. The first and most common type is the printed-circuit motor.... The second is the wound-rotor type disc motor; Fig. 10. 11 shows a typical cross-section of such a motor.

OBS

for "disc wound motor" : In the disc wound motor, the armature coils are wound into a flat disc, which is stiffened by reinforcing it with a thermosetting epoxy resin. The rotor coils are wound on to a frame to the correct number of turns, the frame is then removed, and the coils hot pressed form a disc.

Key term(s)

  • wound-rotor disk motor
  • d.c. wound-rotor disk motor

Record 5 1982-11-09

English

Subject field(s)
  • Electric Motors
CONT

The d. c. permanent magnet motor has a conventional wound armature, and a commutator, on the rotor, with the field on the stator supplied by either Alnico or ceramic permanent magnets.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Moteurs électriques
OBS
