Birdseye : 1. A generic term describing a cloth woven on a dobby loom, with a geometric pattern having a center dot ressembling a bird's eye. Originally birdseye was made of cotton and used as a diaper cloth because of its absorbent qualities, but now the weave is made from a variety of fibers or fiber blends for many different uses. 2. A speckled effect on the back of a knit fabric resulting from the use of different colors on the face design. 1, record 50, English, - birdseye

Integrally woven sandwich materials : By using distance woven fabrics as preforms, integral core-skin sandwich structures can be made. In principle this provides two advantages compared with general sandwich structrures. First, a cost efficient production of sandwich panels can be done. Second, the integral nature of the sandwich preform provides delamination resistant sandwich panels. 1, record 51, English, - woven%20sandwich%20material

Fabric Earth dams. While this application is similar in concept and construction method to fabric retaining walls, the hydrostatic pressure of the retained water and the potential scour problem make the application somewhat unique. 2, record 73, French, - v%C3%A9tiver

Yarn slippage may occur during garment manufacture, or in garment components during wear, as a result of excessive stress or abrasion. Yarns in a fabric have a greater or lesser tendency to slip depending on factors such as yarn type, weave, ends ands and picks per unit length, fabric weight, and the type of finishing process. 2, record 85, English, - yarn%20slippage

There are two major types of seam slippage: 1) When stress is applied to a seam, the yarns in the fabric slip out of the stitching causing an open seam; and 2) When stress is applied to a seam, the yarns in the fabric shift of slide in the weave construction causing seam grinning and fabric distortion. We will refer to the first type as "seam slippage" and the second as "yarn slippage". 3, record 85, English, - yarn%20slippage

Overflows... have been designed for delicate knitted and woven fabrics made of natural and synthetic fibres. They are also found in the carpet sector. The main difference between jet and overflow machines remains in the fact that in jet machines the fabric is transported by the bath flowing at high speed through the nozzle, while with overflows the fabric is transported by the gravitational force of the liquor overflow. A winch(usually not motor driven) is located in the upper part of the machine and the fabric hangs over it. A longer length of textile hangs from the exit side of the winch than from the inlet side. Gravitational forces pull the longer length of textile downward more strongly than the shorter. The fabric is therefore soaked in the bath without any tension(transportation is very gentle). 1, record 100, English, - overflow%20machine
