Yarn slippage may occur during garment manufacture, or in garment components during wear, as a result of excessive stress or abrasion. There are two major types of seam slippage: 1) When stress is applied to a seam, the yarns in the fabric slip out of the stitching causing an open seam; and 2) When stress is applied to a seam, the yarns in the fabric shift of slide in the weave construction causing seam grinning and fabric distortion. 2, record 32, French, - paillis%20biod%C3%A9gradable

Overflows... have been designed for delicate knitted and woven fabrics made of natural and synthetic fibres. They are also found in the carpet sector. The main difference between jet and overflow machines remains in the fact that in jet machines the fabric is transported by the bath flowing at high speed through the nozzle, while with overflows the fabric is transported by the gravitational force of the liquor overflow. A winch(usually not motor driven) is located in the upper part of the machine and the fabric hangs over it. A longer length of textile hangs from the exit side of the winch than from the inlet side. Gravitational forces pull the longer length of textile downward more strongly than the shorter. The fabric is therefore soaked in the bath without any tension(transportation is very gentle). 1, record 39, English, - overflow%20machine

Geotextiles very often have two principal directions, which are at right angles to each other. With woven fabrics these are known as the warp and the weft, with non-woven fabrics the machine direction and the cross direction... Mostly the fabric shows symmetry with respect to these two principal directions, at least for a good approximation. This means that the properties of a fabric in a direction which makes an angle [theta] with one of the principal directions are equal to those in a direction at an angle of-[theta] to the same principal direction. The actual formation of a woven fabric begins with the weave, that is, the third element in the process.
