Shortly after the computer came the imagesetter, the first bridge connecting two processes and eliminating some manual tasks. But before we could move forward, we needed to perfect the imagesetting process. Software algorithms were developed and film emulsions were reformulated to perfect laser writing.

This method involves microfilming the page to be processed. The microfilm is then treated as an opaque screen containing a set of transparent letters and signs. A coherent beam of light(a laser beam) is then passed through the screen, on which the outline of the writing remains transparent.
