English

Subject field(s)
  • Artificial Intelligence
CONT

[The authors] define modality as the distinct sensory channels or modes through which humans (or machines) perceive and interact with the external environment. It involves the recognition and interpretation of stimuli by specific sensory organs or technical sensors, which enable the detection and processing of sensory information. Stimuli represent the external events, patterns, or objects that trigger sensory experiences ... These stimuli activate the corresponding sensors, initiating the conversion of sensory information into digital or neural signals that are further processed in our nervous system or within the circuits of a computer.

CONT

Modality refers to how things are experienced in terms of sensory inputs as sight, touch, hearing, smell, and taste. There are devices like cameras, haptic sensors, microphones etc. which directly correspond to human senses for the computational world. There are devices like motion sensors, keyboards, and physiological sensors that are indirect. Some researchers define modality as how information is represented and communicated between people, such as gesture, speech, written language, gaze, etc.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Intelligence artificielle
CONT

OBS

deaf-mute person; deaf mute person: [These] terms associate deafness with the inability to communicate in a spoken language. A deaf person may choose not to use their voice; this does not make them mute.

OBS

DEF

OBS

I can’t stress how important it is to get a vet check done on a horse you wish to buy... The vet will issue a written report to you. You can also ask the vet whether the horse will be physically suitable for the discipline that you want to use the horse for... The vet will look at the horse's structure and determine whether his feet and bone structure are suitable for what you wish to do with the horse. He’ll also be able to point out any imperfections. He’ll check the horse's vital signs and check for lameness after being exercised. He’ll check the horse's teeth to see if they correspond to the age the seller claims the horse to be and he’ll also look to see whether the equine's teeth have been maintained. Essentially the vet will check the horse's conformation, movement and soundness, wind, gut sounds, heart and lungs, eyesight and hearing. If anything untoward is apparent then it's a chance for further investigation.
