Twist. The tips of a WT [wind turbine] blade move through the air faster than the roots in the direction of rotation, but the oncoming wind speed is similar at all points along the blade. Hence, to achieve the optimal angle of attack along its length, a WT blade is twisted so that the pitch of the blade reduces from the root to the tip. 2, record 7, English, - twist

Pitch Regulation. Once the rated wind speed has been reached, a WT [wind turbine] will be unable to make use of all of the wind energy incident on the rotor plane and must shed some. The power control of a wind turbine using stall. 3, record 9, English, - stall%20regulation
Record number: 9, Textual support number: 1 CONT
The two principal means of limiting rotor power in high operational wind speeds-stall regulation and pitch regulation... Stall regulated machines require speed regulation. As wind speed increases, providing the rotor speed is held constant, flow angles over the blade sections... The blades become increasingly stalled and this limits power to acceptable levels without any additional active control. For this to work, the speed of the WT [wind turbine] rotor must be held essentially constant and this is achieved through the connection of the electric generator to the grid. 4, record 9, English, - stall%20regulation

stall regulation. The blades on a stall-regulated-WT [wind turbine] cannot be pitched. To achieve control of power captured above rated wind speed, the blades are carefully designed so that they progressively stall starting at the blade root and moving out towards the tip as the wind speed increases further. Stall-regulated WTs will respond much more quickly to gusts than pitch-regulated WTs(where mecanic pitch adjustments take finite amounts of time to effect), improving the power quality output by the WT above rated wind speed. 1, record 21, English, - stall%2Dregulated%20blade

Vacuum distillation is a technique that uses a vacuum to extract analytes from a sample. A condensing column is used in the technique to condense water that may also be present in the sample. The Kappa Factor is also known as the Active Chlorine Multiple(ACM). It is the sum of all chlorine compound additions to the first chlorination stage(converted to active chlorine equivalent, i. e. ClO2 wt% charge x 2. 63) divided by the Kappa number of the pump entering the first chlorination stage. The amount of AOX formation is directly related to the Kappa factor; for any given pulp the relationship is linear in a Cl2-free sequence. An important relationship exists between the Kappa factor(and ClO2 substitution) and the tendency to form 2, 3, 7, 8-TCDD. There is a need to operate in the vicinity of a Kappa factor of 0. 17, even at high ClO2 substitution, to ensure that polychlorinated dioxins and furans are not formed. 2, record 32, English, - kappa%20factor

The energy for complete fracture in double edge-notched tension test specimens has been measured for a wide range of polymer films. Results indicated that the variation of the total specific work of fracture, wT, with ligament length, L, can be described by two straight lines, both of the form wT=we+β wpl, thus giving upper and lower intercept values at zero ligament length(i. e. we) for each film. The first term, we, is the energy absorbed per unit area of fracture, whereas the second term, wp, is the energy absorbed per unit volume of plastic deformation remote from the fracture surface. The lower we value was obtained from the extrapolation of the data within the mixed mode region(plane-stress/plane-strain) where the maximum net-section stress exceeded 1. 15 times that of the tensile yield stress, σy, of the material, and the upper value was ascertained by extrapolating the data within the plane stress region where the net-section stress was 1. 15 σy. It appears that the transition from plane stress to plane strain mode of fracture in thin films occurs at a ligament length much greater than 5B, where B is the specimen thickness. 1, record 35, English, - stress%20region
