Techniques of recording. The pupils are well dilated and the patient sits in front of the camera with one arm outstretched. Twenty-five milligrams of ICG [indocyanine green] dye is dissolved in 0.5 ml [millilitres] of the manufacturers aqueous solvent and given intravenously as a bolus followed by a 5 ml physiological saline solution flush. The flush eliminates the need for image intensification. Preferably 10 images should be obtained starting immediately after injection and lasting the first 30 seconds. ... Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) is a noninvasive technique that can detect blood flow signal in retinal and choroidal vessels using motion contrast. It compares the decorrelation signal (differences in the backscattered OCT [optical coherence tomography] signal intensity) between sequential OCT B-scans taken at the same cross-section; thus, yielding maps of vascular flow. ... Numerous studies described how to automatically detect and classify retinal disorders (e.g., diabetic retinopathy [DR]). However, most of them relied on fundus images rather than on OCT images or OCT angiograms. Recent development in OCTA induced attempts to use advanced image processing in order to extract quantitative information that characterizes the vascular network in the retina from the angiograms. 3, record 3, English, - optical%20coherence%20tomography%20angiogram

Percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI) is a treatment for persons experiencing myocardial ischemia(inadequate blood flow to the heart) or myocardial infarction(heart attack).... Under x-ray guidance, a catheter is threaded through the femoral artery up into the aorta(large artery from the heart) and then gently advanced into the affected coronary artery. There, a balloon is used to open the coronary artery(balloon angioplasty) and restore blood flow. Sometimes a stent(a mesh-like metal tube that holds open the artery) is placed at that time to maintain good blood flow through the damaged area. 2, record 66, English, - percutaneous%20coronary%20intervention

The light is made of particles (photons) but is also a wave. Its properties depend on its wavelength: longer waves are less energetic than shorter waves --photons with long wavelength have less energy than short-wavelength photons. Therefore, there are different kinds of electromagnetic radiation: infrared, radio waves, microwaves, gamma rays, X rays, etc. Only a small fraction can be detected by the human eye: the visible light --what in everyday-life is referred to simply as ’light’. The human eye cannot detect wavelengths larger than those of the visible light, such as those of infrared light, microwaves (wavelengths of centimetres), or radio waves (wavelength sofmetres). Wavelengths shorter than visible light cannot be seen either: ultraviolet light, X-rays, gamma rays (the most energetic). 3, record 68, English, - light

2, record 68, French, - lumi%C3%A8re

Medial tibial stress syndrome(MTSS) is one of the most common leg injuries in athletes and soldiers. The incidence of MTSS is reported as being between 4% and 35% in military personnel and athletes. The name given to this condition refers to pain on the posteromedial tibial border during exercise, with pain on palpation of the tibia over a length of at least 5 cm. Histological studies fail to provide evidence that MTSS is caused by periostitis as a result of traction. It is caused by bony resorption that outpaces bone formation of the tibial cortex. Evidence for this overloaded adaptation of the cortex is found in several studies describing MTSS findings on bone scan, magnetic resonance imaging(MRI), high-resolution computed tomography(CT) scan and dual energy x-ray absorptiometry. 2, record 87, English, - medial%20tibial%20stress%20syndrome

High brightness, short pulse width(<200 picoseconds) x-ray lasers now offer biologists the possibility of high-resolution imaging of specimens in an aqueous environment without the blurring effects associated with natural motion or chemical erosion. As a step toward developing the capabilities of this type of x-ray microscopy, a tantalum x-ray laser at a 44. 83-angstrom wavelength was used together with an x-ray zone plate optic to image both unlabeled and selectively gold-labeled dried rat sperm nuclei. In the image, 500-angstrom features are clearly visible. This illustrates the importance of x-ray microscopy in determining chemical composition. X-ray microscopy also provides information about the uniformity of sperm chromatin organization and the extent of sperm chromatin hydration. 2, record 90, English, - X%2Dray%20microscopy

Silicon Drift Detectors(SDD) are essentially 450 μm-thick discs of high-resistivity silicon which is fully depleted by applying a negative bias voltage to both sides of the disc. On one side of the planar structure the bias is graduated across the device by means of a series of "drift rings" such that a strong transverse electric field component is developed within the structure. This is used to direct electrons produced as a result of x-ray interactions towards a small charge collecting anode. On the opposite side of the device(x-ray entrance side) there is a uniform shallow implanted junction contact to allow good low energy x-ray sensitivity and minimum charge loss. 2, record 100, English, - silicon%20drift%20detector
