A subfamily of bovids which includes buffaloes, oxen, yaks and bisons.

CONT

Cattle belong to the biological subfamily Bovinae(or bovines). This includes a diverse group of about 24 species of medium-sized to large ungulates, including bison, the water buffalo, the yak, and the four-horned and spiral-horned antelopes.

Hereford calves consumed their entire daily ration whereas Highland, yak and bison calves did not consume their entire feed allocation. The yak had the lowest daily feed intake on a metabolic weight basis(kg. 75) followed by bison, Highland and finally Hereford in order of increasing voluntary consumption.
