A coarse, open-weave, even-weave fabric traditionally used for cross-stich embroidery.

Aida cloth is manufactured with various size spaces or holes between the warp and weft to accommodate different thicknesses of yarn or thread. These are described in count-that is, 10-count aida cloth has 10 holes per linear inch. Typical sizes are 7-, 10-, 11-, 12-and 14 count. The fabric is relatively stiff for ease of use and is made from linen, cotton, or blends. Traditional colours are white, "natural"(off-white), or shades of tan and brown, although many bright and dark colors and now offered.

There are two types of damask table cloths : 1) Single damask table cloths : construction... 2) Double damask has an 8 shaft satin construction... This gives a much greater distinctness to the pattern. Thread count ranges from 165 to 400.-The quality of both depends on the yarn used and the thread count.-If the same quality and thread count are used, single is better than double because the shorter floats are more serviceable and the yarns hold more firmly.

What do you mean by a no. 18 yarn or a no. 24 yarn or no. 36 yarn? There is an American yarn-numbering system employed in hard fiber processing. In that system, a No. 18 yarn is a yarn whose runnage is 270 feet per pound. To determine the yarn number of a hard fiber yarn, using the American Standard, the yarn runnage is divided by a constant: 15. British Standards, on the other hand refer to 20,24, 30 thread. The British yarn numbering system is computed by dividing the constant: 13.5 by the feet per pound.

It has long been customary to designate the coarseness or the fineness of textile yarns by numbering or counting systems... those in current use may be classified in two groups : a) direct systems, in which the coarseness or the fineness of the yarn is expressed in terms of the mass of yarn per unit length(linear density, often called yarn number or yarn titre). b) indirect systems, in which the coarseness or the fineness of the yarn is expressed in terms of the length of yarn per unit mass(usually called yarn count).
