CFUW is a non-partisan, voluntary, self-funded organization with over 100 CFUW clubs, located in every province across Canada. Since its founding in 1919, CFUW has been working to improve the status of women and to promote human rights, public education, social justice, and peace. Every year, CFUW and its clubs award close to $1 million to women to help them pursue post-secondary studies. CFUW also provides funding for library and creative arts awards.

The Friends's School Programs aim to foster an interest in art and the National Gallery. The English language Looking at Pictures program began in 1968 followed in 1985 by the French-language Vive les arts! These parallel programs respond to invitations from area elementary schools to show reproductions of art to students in their classrooms. These volunteers driven programs are supported enthusiastically by the region's School Boards. During the 1995-1996 school year, 36, 000 students in 176 schools participated in our Looking at Pictures and Vive les arts! programmes.

ICDB, celebrated on the second Sunday of every December, is a day when broadcasters around the world "Tune in to Kids. "They air quality programming for and about children. But most of all, they allow children to be part of the programming process, to talk about their hopes and dreams and share information with their peers. The Day is a joint initiative of UNICEF and the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. Every year, thousands of broadcasters in more than a hundred countries take part in the day, celebrating it in ways that are as unique and special as children themselves.

The Hnatyshyn Foundation, a private charity established by the late Right Honourable Ramon John Hnatyshyn, Canada's twenty-fourth Governor General, began awarding grants in 2005. Each year our Developing Artists Grants program provides eight $10, 000 scholarship to exceptional young Canadians in post-secondary performing arts training programs. The Foundation also awards two annual prizes for excellence in Canadian visual arts :$25, 000 for a mid-career artist and $15, 000 for a mid-career curator of contemporary visual art.

The Festival has been in continuous existence from 1945 to the present. It was originally known as the Ottawa Music Festival Association until 1985 when the Kiwanis Clubs of the National Capital Region assumed shared responsibility with non-Kiwanian volunteers for the Festival. At that time the name of the organization was changed to the Kiwanis Music Festival. Later the Festival was expanded to include Dance competitions as well as Music. The name of the organization was then changed to its current title. With the incorporation of Dance, the Festival has grown in size from about sixth place in the Province to second place. The Festival has maintained a steady growth in number of entries ever since. 1998 will be the fourth year for Speech Arts. The first year saw our best go to the Provincial competition and after winning there proceeded on to win the National competition.

The Wolf Foundation was established in Israel, in 1976, by Dr. Ricardo Wolf, inventor, diplomat and philanthropist, and his wife Francisca Subirana-Wolf, "to promote science and art for the benefit of manking". The Foundation has the status of a private non-profit organization. The Trustees, members of the Council, and selection Committees, perform their duties on a voluntary basis. Only the annual income from the investments is used for the award of prizes, scholarships and to cover the annual expenses. In addition to the international prizes, the Foundation awards every year about 200 scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students at the institutions of higher learning in Israel. A candidate can be nominated for only one of the following five specific fields of science : agriculture, chemistry, mathematics, medicine and physics, or one of the following four fields of Arts : architecture, music, painting and sculpture.

The Canada Council for the Arts announced today the winners of the 2004 Canada-Japan Literary Awards. The awards recognize literary excellence by Canadian authors writing on Japan, Japanese themes or themes that promote mutual understanding between Japan and Canada. The funds for these awards come from the investment return on that portion of the Japan-Canada Fund set aside as an endowment in perpetuity for a literary award. The amount of $20, 000 was available for this year to be shared equally between two laureates, one for English-language and one for French-language. These awards are normally given out every two years.

Ces Prix constituent une reconnaissance de l'excellence littéraire des auteurs canadiens qui écrivent sur le Japon, sur des thèmes japonais ou sur des thèmes qui favorisent la compréhension mutuelle entre le Japon et le Canada. Les fonds de ces prix proviennent des revenus de placement de la portion du Fonds Japon-Canada réservée à la dotation, à perpétuité, d'un prix littéraire. Le montant de 20 000 $ était disponible à être partagé à part égale entre deux lauréats, l'un en langue française, l'autre en langue anglaise. Ces prix sont habituellement attribués à tous les deux ans.

The Montreal High Lights Festival will continue to be bold and creative in order to make this festival more accessible to a wider range of artistic creations in all their forms, be they theatre, music, plastic, gastronomical or luminous. And more notably by pursuing even further the concept of urban animation and by proposing new themes for the performing arts, which next year will be devoted to vocal art. It's in this context that the festival will consolidate, sometime this year its twinning with the city of Lyon who has also in the last two years, produced during the month of December, its very own light festival; le Festival Lyon Lumière. Montreal' s third year of the HIGH LIGHTS Festival, with its programming of special events, surprising flavours and an urban animation segment that promises to be even more dazzling, will take place from Thursday, February the 14th to Sunday, March 3rd 2002. Happy season's end Montreal.

Vincennes a en effet la chance de bénéficier de quartiers commerçants et d'un centre ville très actifs.

Montréal en lumière fera preuve d'audace et de créativité afin de rendre de plus en plus accessible au plus grand nombre la création artistique sous toutes ses formes, qu'elle soit théâtrale, musicale, plastique, gustative ou lumineuse, notamment en poussant encore plus loin le concept d'animation urbaine et proposant une nouvelle thématique des arts de la scène qui sera consacrée l'an prochain à l'art vocal. C'est dans ce contexte aussi que le Festival consolidera, d'ici l'an prochain, son jumelage avec la Ville de Lyon, qui réalise, elle aussi depuis deux ans, au cours du mois de décembre, le Festival Lyon lumière. La troisième édition du Festival MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE, avec une programmation d'événements spéciaux, savoureuse et un volet d'animation urbaine encore plus électrisant, aura lieu du jeudi 14 février au dimanche 3 mars 2002.
