The sponge and dough method is employed primarily by wholesale bakeries... In this method a sponge consisting of part of the flour(usually 65 to 70% of the total flour) is mixed first. All the yeast, all the mineral yeast food, and enough water to make a stiff mixture are incorporated in the sponge, which is then fermented for about four to five hours. The sponge is returned to the mixer, where the rest of the flour, water, and all additional ingredients are added and mixed to proper development... After mixing is completed, the dough is fermented for about 20 minutes. 1, record 3, English, - sponge%20and%20dough%20method

AC medium is a good primary isolation medium possessing unique growth promoting properties for both aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms. It is recommended as a general culture medium for anaerobes, microaerophiles and aerobes. The medium contains an agar flux that retards air diffusion and when sealed in snap-cap tubes immediately after autoclaving, it maintains an oxygen gradient ranging from anaerobic at the bottom to aerobic at the top. Techniques :... Within 24 hours after inoculation, anaerobic organisms will be growing near the bottom, microaerophiles near the center, and aerobic organisms near the top Facultative organisms will grow throughout the tube. The composition is the following : beef extract(3 g), yeast extract(3 g), malt extract(3 g), proteose peptone No. 3(Difco)(20 g). dextrose(5 g), agar(1 g), ascorbic acid(0. 2 g), distilled water(1 liter)... 4, record 7, English, - all%2Dculture%20medium

Though it's often compared to vodka and soda, hard seltzer is definitely not that. It doesn’t contain vodka or any other distilled spirit but is instead produced in a similar manner to beer. The basic concept is that a little sugar is added to carbonated water(seltzer), which is then fermented by introducing yeast so that the sugars are converted into alcohol. This is then often infused with natural or artificial flavor. Of course, each brand has their own methods. Some use barley(labeled as a malt beverage) or another fermentable base, such as rice. 4, record 9, English, - hard%20seltzer

Healthcare facilities in several countries have reported that a type of yeast called Candida auris has been causing severe illness in hospitalized patients. In some patients, this yeast can enter the bloodstream and spread throughout the body, causing serious invasive infections. This yeast often does not respond to commonly used antifungal drugs, making infections difficult to treat. Patients who have been hospitalized in a healthcare facility a long time, have a central venous catheter, or other lines or tubes entering their body, or have previously received antibiotics or antifungal medications, appear to be at highest risk of infection with this yeast. Specialized laboratory methods are needed to accurately identify C. [Candida] auris. Conventional laboratory techniques could lead to misidentification and inappropriate management, making it difficult to control the spread of C. auris in healthcare settings. 2, record 10, English, - Candida%20auris

Rhizodegradation... is a much slower process than phytodegradation. Microorganisms(yeast, fungi, or bacteria) consume and digest organic substances for nutrition and energy. Certain microorganisms can digest organic substances such as fuels or solvents that are hazardous to humans and break them down into harmless products through biodegradation. Natural substances released by the plant roots-sugars, alcohols, and acids-contain organic carbon that provides food for soil microorganisms, and the additional nutrients enhance their activity. 3, record 11, English, - rhizodegradation

Barley is also used to produce barley malt. In this case the whole barley seed is steeped in water to allow the live germ to sprout... The sprouted barley is next dried under mild heat so as not to inactivate its enzymes. The sprouted dried barley, now known as malt, is used in the brewing industry to help digest starchy material into sugars for rapid yeast fermentation. The malt also has a distinctive flavor which contributes to the flavor of brewed beverages such as beer. Malt further adds flavor to breakfast cereals and malted-milk concentrates. Malt syrups also find use in various bakery operations where amylase activity is desired. 4, record 13, English, - barley%20malt

Yeast autolysates are concentrates of the soluble components of yeast cells and in Europe are predominantly produced by autolysis. That is to say, that the cell hydrolysis is performed without addition of other enzymes. Yeast autolysates are known under the name of "yeast extracts" and are mainly used in the fermentation industry as substrates and in the food industry as flavour improvers. In Europe, the major raw material for yeast extract is primary grown high protein yeast(strains of Saccharomyces cerevisiae), which is grown on molasses based media. In the United Kingdom and in the United States, yeast extracts are also manufactured from debittered brewers yeasts(strains of saccharomyces cerevisiae or Saccharomyces uvarum). Other raw materials in use are yeasts such as Kluyveromyces fragilis(fermented on whey) or Candida utilis(grown on high carbohydrate waste-products of the timber industry or on ethanol). 3, record 22, English, - yeast%20extract

Root Beer : Not really a beer! It was created in the mid-1800s by Philadelphia pharmacist Charles Hires, the original root beer was a(very) low-alcohol, naturally effervescent beverage made by fermenting a blend of sugar and yeast with various roots, herbs and barks such as sarsaparilla, sassafras, wild cherry, wintergreen and ginger. Today's commercial root beer is completely non-alcoholic and generally contains sugar, caramel colouring, a combination of artificial and natural flavourings(including some of those originally used) and carbonated water for sparkle. 2, record 30, English, - root%20beer

The(Russian) continuous method is an adaptation of the tank method. It was developed in the USSR [Union of Soviet Socialist Republics] and includes a sequence of connected pressurized tanks. Base wine is pumped into the first tank. Measured amounts of the "liqueur de tirage"(solution with yeast and sugar) are added for the secondary fermentation. Then the wine passes through additional tanks containing wood shavings or chips. When the wine reaches the final tanks of the series, it is clarified and any remaining sediment removed. At the end of the process, the wine is bottled. 2, record 42, English, - continuous%20method

Grapes for late-harvest wine are left on the vine for several weeks or in some cases months after the usual harvest. With more time, the berries become riper and thus sweeter. They may also begin to lose water through evaporation, further concentrating the natural fruit sugars. All that sweetness turns out to be literally too much for the yeast in the fermenting vat, which tires out and dies before it can convert all the sugar into alcohol to create a dry wine. 2, record 43, English, - late%2Dharvest%20wine

... the ARP complex ... nucleates actin filament growth from the minus end, allowing rapid elongation at the plus end. However, the complex can also attach to the side of another actin filament while remaining bound to the minus end of the filament that it has nucleated, thereby building individual filaments into a treelike web ... The ARP complex is localized in regions of rapid actin filament growth such as lamellipodia, and its nucleating activity is regulated by intracellular signaling molecules and components at the cytosolic face of the plasma membrane. 1, record 50, English, - ARP%20complex

We now report the discovery of a gene tightened regulation of cancer that codes for a novel uncoupling protein, designated UCP2, which has 59% for physicians and patients amino-acid identity to UCP1, and describe properties consistent with a role in diabetes and obesity. In comparison with UCP1, UCP2 has a greater effect on mitochondrial membrane potential when expressed in yeast. Compared to UCP1, the gene is widely expressed in adult human tissues, including tissues rich in macrophages, and it is upregulated in white fat in response to fat feeding. Finally, UCP2 maps to regions of human chromosome 11 and mouse chromosome 7 that have been linked to hyperinsulinaemia and obesity. Our findings suggest that UCP2 has a unique role in energy balance, body weight regulation and thermoregulation and their responses to inflammatory stimuli. 1, record 62, English, - Uncoupling%20Protein%202

It was therefore a major landmark in the history of enzyme research when, in 1897, Eduard Buchner succeeded in extracting from yeast cells that enzymes catalyzing alcoholic fermentation. This achievement clearly demonstrated that these important enzymes, which catalyze a major energy-yielding metabolic pathway, can function independently of cell structure. However, it was not until many years later that an enzyme was first isolated in pure crystalline form. This was accomplished by J. B. Sumner in 1926 for the enzyme urease isolated from extracts of the jack bean. Sumner presented evidence that the crystals consist of protein, and he concluded, contrary to prevailing opinion, that enzymes are proteins. 3, record 63, English, - urease

1, record 73, French, - sucre%20fermentescible

Because recombination in yeast is primarily legitimate rather than illegitimate, it is relatively easy to replace a resident gene with whatever modified gene that you wish. For E. There are four classes of industrially important microorganisms: yeasts, molds, single-cell bacteria and actinomycetes. The yeasts and the molds are more highly developed; together they constitute the fungi. Organisms of this type are eukaryotic, that is, their cells, like the cells of plants and animals, have a membrane-enclosed nucleus and more than one chromosome; they also contain organelles such as mitochondria.... There is good evidence that yeast hexokinase, which phosphorylates glucose with the terminal phosphate of ATP, involves the induced fit theory. X-ray diffraction studies show that the binding of both the sugar and the nucleotide causes extensive changes in tertiary structure. Also, the binding of the nucleotide to one form of the enzyme is promoted by sugar binding. These results are in accord with earlier solution studies on the ATPase activity of the enzyme in the absence of glucose. 2, record 80, English, - induced%2Dfit%20theory

3, record 80, French, - th%C3%A9orie%20de%20l%27ajustement%20induit

We therefore propose to undertake the identification, assembly and test of the structural elements necessary for the proper function and stability of a mammalian artificial chromosome(MAC). To achieve this goal, we will create a chimaera between an existing Yeast Artificial Chromosome(YAC) and selected human and other mammalian genomic sequences. The stability and autonomous replication of the MAC in human cells will be evaluated by a variety of assays, both before and after the addition of candidate origins, telomeres and centromeres. 2, record 92, English, - mammalian%20artificial%20chromosome
