Modern technology provides a quick and accurate method for grading hogs at federally inspected plants : An electronic probe is inserted between the third and fourth ribs on the left side of the carcass. The needle has a sensor light on the end. As the needle is withdrawn from the probe site, it measures meat thickness and fat levels. These measurements are fed into a computer, which generates a yield class estimating percentage of lean meat. 2, record 2, English, - yield%20class

Because of significant advantages, the kraft process has become established as the world's dominant pulping method. Nonetheless, the process also has some severe shortcomings.... Two add-on technologies date from pre-1970, the polysulfide process(used commercially on a limited basis) and the H2S pretreatment process(demonstrated at the pilot plant level). Both methods are successful in providing significant increases in pulp yield, up to 7 % on dry wood. Unfortunately, both methods are associated with increased concentration of sulfur in the chemical cycle, which exacerbates the odor problem. Additionally, both methods require further processing steps that increase the capital and operating costs of the pulp mill. 1, record 6, English, - H2S%20pretreatment

2, record 6, French, - pr%C3%A9traitement%20au%20H2S

Except in situations where a high level of grazing management is already being practiced, any increase in the degree of grazing control will improve forage utilization as it is sold off the farm as livestock product. The effective and profitable utilization of grazed forage depends primarily on the degree to which the manager is able and/or willing to exercise control in determining when, where, and for how long animals graze. 3, record 12, English, - grazing%20control

Grain processing : the type of grain and processing method can have a significant impact on the site and extent of starch digestion of a particular diet and resulting milk component composition and yield. Generally, ground, rolled, heated, steam fladed or pelletized grain increases starch digestibilities and propionic acid production in the rumen. Steam flaked corn or sorghum compared to steam rolled corn or dry rolled corn or sorghum consistently improves milk production and milk protein yield. In six comparisons, steam flaked corn increased milk protein percentage and yield and decreased milk fat percentage compared to steam rolled corn. Milk fat yield remained unchanged in these trials. 2, record 15, English, - flaked%20corn

2, record 18, French, - rendement%20biologique

Coating weights : Pure tin coating on a hot-dip tin plate is mechanically distributed over sheet surface by tinning rolls. Due to nature of this tinning operation and elevated temperature of metal it is not possible to control, within close limits, tin coating weight. For these and other reasons, coating is measured and described by "tin pot yield" method. Total weight(in pounds) of tin consumed in manufacture of one base box, is pot yield. Terms, charcoal plate and coke plate, which in last century described quality of iron used as a base metal, have now come to be applied to tin plate of certain coating thickness. Amount of coating on coke plates is generally between 1. 24 and 2. 5 pounds per base box-on charcoal plates between 3 pounds and 5 pounds per base box. For roofing applications, heavier charcoal weight coatings have always been preferred. Common cokes, 1. 25 lb/base box. Standard cokes, 1. 50 lb/base box; Best cokes, 1. 70 lb/base box. "Kanners" special cokes, 2. 0 lb/base box.... Weight of coating on an electrolytic plate is a measurement of amount of coating on both sides of sheet, expressed in grams per square meter. Both methods are successful in providing significant increases in pulp yield, up to 7% on dry wood. Unfortunately, both methods are associated with increased concentration of sulfur in the chemical cycle, which exacerbates the odor problem. Additionally, both methods require further processing steps that increase the capital and operating costs of the pulp mill. 1, record 24, English, - polysulfide%20process

1, record 24, French, - proc%C3%A9d%C3%A9%20au%20polysulfure

Because of significant advantages, the kraft process has become established as the world's dominant pulping method. Nonetheless, the process also has some severe shortcomings, principally the low yield from wood, the comparatively high residual lignin content of bleachable grades, and the malodors caused by reduced sulfur compounds.... Most of the earlier modifications were aimed at increased retention of carbohydrates by stabilizing the end groups of the cellulose and hemicellulose polymer chains against "peeling reactions". These reactions cause dissolution of the end groups one unit at a time and consume a significant portion of the cooking chemical. 1, record 25, English, - peeling%20reaction

Split Equity Contract similar to the en viager method used in France, involves the actual sale of the property by the homeowner. There is no mortgage. The homeowner retains the right to rent-free occupancy for a specified number of years or life. The purchase price would be determined by the expected future value of the property discounted by its rent-free use, interest, and the specific or expected time lapse before actual possession. This could be a life mortality consideration. The proceeds of the sale could be invested to yield income or, alternatively, used to buy a Life Annuity from an insurance company. 2, record 29, English, - split%20equity%20contract
