Launched in September 1995, the program addressed tobacco, alcohol and drugs, HIV/AIDS, nutrition, substance abuse and mental health. Through an extensive marketing campaign highlighted by a travelling exhibit, "The Wellness Lodge, "the strategy worked in partnership with aboriginal leaders and organizations from across Canada to provide culturally relevant and sensitive information in an interesting and interactive manner. Targeted to all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples in Canada from toddlers to elders, the 1997 campaign placed a special emphasis on youth aged 13 to 25, continuing Health Canada′s push towards preventative care.
