The purpose of the Environmental Youth Corps Funding Program is to encourage Manitoba youth to voluntarily participate in projects that improve and protect Manitoba's environment. The program stresses the importance of local action for sustaining the environment. It offers Manitoba's young people an opportunity to prepare for the environmental challenges of tomorrow by helping them gain valuable education and experience today.

The International Environmental Youth Corps(IEYC) is designed to place young Canadians in international internships within the environment sector. The program began 1 April 1997 and will continue to operate through to 31 March 2002. The IEYC is administered and delivered by Environment Canada in conjunction with the Canadian Council for Human Resources in the Environment Industry(CCHREI), an industry-led, not-for-profit corporation.
