The Youth Environmental Challenge offers more than just a job. This program enables young people to create employment that interests them. Valuable experience and understanding of current environmental issues can be gained while developing management, organizational, leadership and goal setting skills. The Nova Scotia Youth Conservation Corps will provide assistance in the development of project proposals and advice relating to fund raising.

Objectives are to : enhance the public awareness and image of the Job Corps(a nationwide federally-sponsored training program offering education, vocational training, and work experience in urban, rural, or inner city residential centers to disadvantaged youth aged 16 to 21) and its alumni; conduct programs and provide services in response to the needs and interests of the Job Corps; support the educational and career development of Job Corps members; provide a forum for social interaction and group support for Job Corps alumni.
