Australia. Young males were the hardest hit during the downturn, and this has been associated to some degree with the collapse in the availability of apprenticeships. The adult employment rate grew in some cases at the same rate as the youth employment rate declined. Australia put a strong focus on activation and created a National Youth Participation Requirement with an entitlement to training through 24 years of age.

Q4L(Quit4Life) program exists because smoking is the leading preventable cause of serious illness and death in Canada. If teens who smoke have the opportunity to participate in cessation programs that are suitable for them, the rate of teen smoking likely will continue to decline. Health Canada is taking steps to help youth quit smoking before it becomes a lifelong habit. And the Quit4Life program has been part of the plan since 1996.

OBS
