The Young Leaders in Rural Canada Awards pay tribute and highlight outstanding contributions by young people to rural communities in the categories of Innovation, Leadership and Partnership. The annual awards seek to recognize rural youth who dedicate their passion, spirit and skills to the benefits of rural, remote and northern communities throughout Canada. The Young Leaders in Rural Canada Awards are a Government of Canada initiative resulting from a commitment made by the Secretary of State(Rural Development)(Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario) at the 2003 National Rural Conference held in May 2003 in Ontario.
