The inclination of a satellite, together with its orbital altitude and the period of its orbit, creates a track defined by an imaginary line connecting the satellite and the Earth's center. The intersection on the line with the Earth's surface is the subsatellite point. As the Earth turns on its axis and the satellite orbits overhead, a line is created by the satellite's apparent path over the ground(the series of subsatellite points connected). A good understanding of the basic axis system used to describe aircraft motion is necessary to fully appreciate flight test data, since all measurements are referenced to this axis system. Aircraft translational motion is described in terms of motion in three different directions, each direction being perpendicular to the other two(orthogonal). Motion in the X direction is forward and aft velocity. The Y direction produces sideways motion to the left and right, and up and down motion is in the Z direction... There are several slightly different versions of the basic axis system just described. They differ primarily in the exact placement of the zero reference lines, but are generally similar in their directions.(For example, the body-axis system uses the fuselage center line as the x axis, while a wind-axis system uses the direction that the aircraft is moving through the air as the x axis.)

It will be understood that position error shows linear growth over time and there is a direct relationship between the accuracy of a gyro and position drift.

The ridge count from each finger is obtained by counting the number of ridges traversing a straight line running from the triradius to the centre of the pattern. The sum of the counts from the 10 fingers makes up the total ridge count. Since an arch has no triradius, its ridge count will be zero; while a whorl, with two triradii will normally have a higher ridge count than a loop.

Persons with the XO condition have the highest average total ridge count of all the groups tested, while the available data on XXY males suggests a somewhat lower TRC than normal XY males.

L'arche ne comportant pas de tri-radius est comparée zéro. Le tourbillon comportant deux tri-radius est caractérisé par deux nombres: seul le plus élevé est utilisé dans le calcul.

Basically, charts are drawn according to the system of rectangular co-ordinates. Rectangular co-ordinates are based on two straight reference lines perpendicular to each other in a plane(...) The horizontal line is usually referred to as the X-axis, or the abscissa, whereas the vertical line is referred to as the Y-axis, or the ordinate. The two lines divide the plane into four parts called quadrants(...) The point of intersection of the two lines is called the origin, or zero point. Scales are labeled along the two axes, beginning at the point of origin. The abscissas(...) to the right of the origin are conventionally designated as positive, whereas those to the left of the origin are negative. The ordinates(...) above the origin are positive, and those below the origin are negative. Any point on the plane may refer to two values according to the two scales.
