A chemical compound which appears under the form of a colorless or yellowish, syrupy, odorless, hygroscopic liquid, is miscible with water, alcohol, glycerol and furfural, insoluble in chloroform, petroleum ether and carbon disulfide, is partially converted to lactic anhydride when concentrated above 50%, has one asymmetric carbon and two enantiomorphic isomers, is derived by fermenting starch, milk whey, molasses, potatoes, etc. and neutralizing the acid as soon as formed with calcium or zinc carbonate, after which the solution of lactates is concentrated and decomposed with sulfuric acid, also synthetically by hydrolysis of lactonitrile, and is used in cultured dairy products, as an acidulant, in chemicals(salts, plasticizers, adhesives, pharmaceuticals), as a mordant in dyeing wool, as a general-purpose food additive and in the manufacture of lactates. 5, record 1, English, - 2%2Dhydroxypropanoic%20acid

An organic compound in which silicon is bonded to carbon ... 5, record 5, English, - organosilicon
Record number: 5, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Organosilicon. Organosilicon compounds are chemical compounds containing carbon silicon bonds. Organosilicon chemistry is the corresponding science exploring the properties and reactivity of organosilicon compounds. Like carbon, organosilicon compounds are tetravalent and tetrahedral. Unlike carbon, silicon is not found in any biomolecule. The first organosilicon compound, tetraethylsilane was discovered by Charles Friedel and James Crafts in 1863 by reaction of tetrachlorosilane with diethyl zinc. Discovered in 1893, the simplest marriage between silicon and carbon is silicon carbide which has many industrial applications. 6, record 5, English, - organosilicon

A substance added to a cosmetic product (lotion, spray, cream) to protect the skin from the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) radiation in order to reduce sunburn and other skin damage, thus leading to a lower risk of skin cancer; by extension, the product itself. 4, record 6, English, - sun%20screen
Record number: 6, Textual support number: 1 CONT
The best sunscreens protect against both UVB(ultraviolet radiation with wavelength between 290 and 320 nanometres), which can cause sunburn, and UVA(between 320 and 400 nanometres), which damages the skin with more long-term effects, such as premature skin aging. Most sunscreens work by containing either an organic chemical compound that absorbs ultraviolet light(such as oxybenzone) or an opaque material that reflects light(such as titanium dioxide, zinc oxide), or a combination of both. Typically, absorptive materials are referred to as chemical blocks, whereas opaque materials are mineral or physical blocks. 3, record 6, English, - sun%20screen
Record number: 6, Textual support number: 1 OBS
suntan lotion: ... an incorrect term for sunscreen as it is something entirely different. Suntan lotion is used to moisturize and maximize UV exposure and tanning, rather than block it. These are commonly called indoor tanning lotions when designed for use with tanning beds or just suntan lotion if designed for outdoor use and may or may not have SPF protection in them. 3, record 6, English, - sun%20screen

4, record 6, Spanish, - filtro%20solar
