ZONE DISPERSION [5 records]

Record 1 2017-05-11

English

Subject field(s)
  • Wheels and Tires (Motor Vehicles and Bicycles)
CONT

A dual-compound, asymmetric tread has an "all-season zone" with an open tread pattern, aquachutes for water dispersion, and TredLock technology microgrooves.

Key term(s)
  • micro-groove

French

Domaine(s)
  • Roues et pneus (Véhicules automobiles et bicyclettes)
CONT

Key term(s)
  • micro-rainure

Record 2 2004-10-26

English

Subject field(s)
  • Geochemistry
  • Geological Research and Exploration
  • Metals Mining
DEF

A geochemical anomaly resulting from primary dispersion.

CONT

Most mineral deposits include a central zone, or core, in which the valuable elements or minerals are concentrated.... [The] zone surrounding the core deposit is known as a primary halo or anomaly, and it represents the distribution patterns of elements which formed as a result of primary dispersion.

OBS

As opposed to "secondary dispersion halo."

Key term(s)
  • primary geochemical aureole

French

Domaine(s)
  • Géochimie
  • Recherches et prospections géologiques
  • Mines métalliques
CONT

Record 3 1989-07-31

English

Subject field(s)
  • Fires and Explosions
  • Occupational Health and Safety
CONT

To estimate the vapour concentrations downwind of an accident site for determination of the flammability or toxicity hazard zone, the atmospheric dispersion of a contaminant vapour is modelled as a "puff" or "plume" according to the decision tree given in Figure 3. A gas leak form a tank is considered a semi-continuous point source, modelling as a plume, whereas the release of a large amount of gas over a very short time period of the order of seconds to minutes is considered an instantaneous point source modelled as a puff.

Record 4 1988-11-30

English

Subject field(s)
  • Air Pollution
  • Environmental Studies and Analyses
CONT

Vapour Dispersion Monograms.... The aim of the air dispersion nomograms is to define the hazard zone due to toxicity or flammability of a vapour cloud.... Figure 14 : vapour plume travel distance as a function of time elapsed since the spill and wind speed.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Pollution de l'air
  • Études et analyses environnementales
CONT

Record 5 1988-04-13

English

Subject field(s)
  • Geochemistry
  • Geological Research and Exploration
CONT

Dispersion pattern. Elements are distributed in earth materials in characteristic patterns which may be used as guides. A dispersion pattern is classed as primary if it is formed at depth by an igneous or metamorphic process, or secondary if formed at the earth’s surface by weathering, erosion, or surface transportation.

CONT

This zone surrounding the core deposit is known as a primary halo or anomaly, and it represents the distribution patterns of elements which formed as a result of primary dispersion.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Géochimie
  • Recherches et prospections géologiques
DEF

Organisation, disposition, répartition des éléments [...]

OBS
