The ocean basins are characterized by a central ridge structure that divides the basin about in half. This midoceanic ridge consists of submarine hills that rise gradually to a rugged central zone. Precisely in the center of the ridge, at its highest point, is the axial rift, which is a narrow, trench-like feature. The location and form of this rift suggest that the crust is being pulled apart along the line of the rift. The midoceanic ridge and its principal branches can be traced through the ocean basins for a total distance of about 60, 000 km(about 37, 000 mi). 9, record 9, English, - mid%2Doceanic%20ridge

The space between these diverging plates is filled with molten rocks (magma) from below. Contact with seawater cools the magma, which quickly solidifies, forming new oceanic lithosphere. This continuous process, operating over millions of years, builds a chain of submarine volcanoes and rift valleys called a mid-ocean ridge or an oceanic spreading ridge. 10, record 9, English, - mid%2Doceanic%20ridge

"Areography" entails the delineation and characterization of regions on Mars. Like terrestrial geography, "areography" would concern itself with the society and environment interaction on Mars, such as the location analytic process involved in selecting appropriate lander sites, the constraints and opportunities of human settlement of Mars, and the human imaginings, perceptions, and feelings about Mars. "Areography" would tend to be more interested in the surface of Mars, the zone of contact among its crust, cryosphere, and atmosphere, and, perhaps, one day, human society there, rather than the deep planetary structure and processes. 2, record 14, English, - areography

Étude descriptive de la planète Mars. 1, record 14, French, - ar%C3%A9ographie
Record number: 14, Textual support number: 1 OBS

The franchise is only one form among many of the commercial concession, and its originality lies more in the terminology used by the parties than in the structure and purpose of the franchise contract. Commercial concessions in the form of distribution agreements are developed as energetically as franchises in fields where the manufacturer's products have distinctive brand names. Like franchise holders, distributors are given exclusive rights of distribution for a specific product or range of products, and undertake the same obligations to promote the products and to attain specified sales targets. In return distributors, like franchise holders, receive assistance from the manufacturer in organising sales and accompanying services, including technical "know how". The idea that a distributor should have an exclusive territory for the sale of the manufacturer's products is characteristic of commercial concessions, rather than franchises, but this idea has lately tended to give way to the more flexible concept of the distributor's zone of principal responsibility. As in the case of the franchise, this refers not so much to a particular geographical area as to the customers who are to be attracted to buying the products in question. 1, record 20, English, - commercial%20concession

1, record 20, French, - concession%20commerciale
