ZONE SUSPENDED WATER [3 records]

Record 1 2002-02-22

English

Subject field(s)
  • Drainage and Irrigation (Agric.)
  • Pools
CONT

Sand filtration without any added reagent does not produce perfectly clear water. This can, however, easily be obtained by first adding a small dose of aluminium sulphate to coagulate the suspended solids. The floc thus obtained forms a blanket in the upper part of the filter bed, which then constitutes the active zone; the lower layer acts mainly as a support and safety layer.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Drainage et irrigation (Agriculture)
  • Piscines
DEF

The water that occurs between the land surface and the zone of saturation has been called suspended water, but the Greek term "kresmastic water" has been suggested for it as a companion to the term "plerotic water".

Subject field(s)
  • Water Treatment (Water Supply)
  • Pools
OBS

This can, however easily be obtained by first adding a small dose of aluminium sulphate to coagulate the suspended solids. French

Domaine(s)
  • Traitement des eaux
  • Piscines
OBS
