The latter in turn comprises two sets of functions : for mission preparation and control and for payload operation respectively. The Southern Ocean, also known as the Great Southern Ocean, the Antarctic Ocean and the South Polar Ocean, comprises the southernmost waters of the World Ocean south of 60° S latitude. The International Hydrographic Organization has designated the Southern Ocean as an oceanic division encircling Antarctica. Geographers disagree on the Southern Ocean's northern boundary or even its existence, sometimes considering the waters part of the South Pacific, South Atlantic, and Indian Oceans instead. Some scientists consider the Antarctic Convergence, an ocean zone which fluctuates seasonally, as separating the Southern Ocean from other oceans, rather than 60° S. This ocean zone forms from the convergence of two circumpolar currents, one easterly flowing and one westerly flowing. The International Hydrographic Organization(IHO) regards the Southern Ocean as the fourth-largest of the five principal oceanic divisions and the latest-defined one. 3, record 28, English, - Antarctic%20Ocean

The European furnace insert in the MSL [Materials Science Laboratory] is developed to support research in the field of Bridgman crystal growth. The LGF [Low Gradient Furnace] consists of two heated cavities separated by an insulating, "adiabatic" zone. It is intended to provide restricted but well-controlled gradients between two stable temperature plateaux. Crystal growth is performed by translating the furnace over a stationary sample; thermomechanical stresses in the grown crystal are minimised by maintaining the solidified part of the sample in the heated cavity throughout processing. Alternatively, the insert can be used for thermodiffusion experiments by keeping the furnace stationary and using only the gradient capability. Isothermal experiments can also be carried out with suitable sample/cartridge configurations. 2, record 37, English, - furnace%20insert

Subgreenschist-facies regional metamorphic rocks are subdivided into prehnite-pumpellyite zone and prehnite-epidote zone. Fluid inclusions in two subgreenschist-facies veins yielded mean homogenization temperatures of 139 and 151°C. Assuming a reasonable maximum temperature limit of 275°C for the subgreenschist fades, the fluid-inclusion isochores indicate a pressure <250 MPa [megapascals] for regional metamorphism in the subgreenschist facies. 4, record 49, English, - subgreenschist%20facies%20metamorphism

Serving as a means of aerial reconnaissance and surveillance rather like "an extended pair of binoculars", DRAC enables an operator to gather, display and process real-time images at a distance of up to 10 kilometres, by day or by night. One of the intended missions of the DRAC system is to immediately detect all presence or advancing infantry units or vehicles at a particular location or within a specific corridor in the command zone of the reconnaissance units, without having to deploy any ground sensors. Each system consists of two fixed-wing aerial vehicles from the Tracker series, interchangeable gyro-stabilised visible-spectrum and infrared payloads, a data link and a portable, multifunction, ruggedised ground station. The latter in turn comprises two sets of functions : for mission preparation and control and for payload operation respectively. The complete equipment is packed in a rucksack that can be easily transported and deployed by two men. This feature makes DRAC particularly suitable for use by paratroopers. The responsibility for developing and manufacturing the DRAC systems has been conferred on EADS, as overall prime contractor, working in partnership with SurveyCopter. 2, record 52, English, - DRAC%20system

Ultimate is a team sport in which the team with the higher point total at the end of the game wins. It is played with two teams of seven players on a rectangular field with an end zone at each end. A goal, worth 1 point, is scored when a player/thrower passes the disc to a teammate and it is successfully caught within the confines of the end zone his or her team is attacking. Solely passing the disc from one player to another may advance the disc. A player may not run while in possession of the disc. 3, record 54, English, - ultimate%20frisbee

In 1964, Congress passed the Bartlett Act(Pub. L. No 88-308, 78 Stat. 194) which excluded foreign vessels from fishing within the United States’ territorial sea, defined as all ocean waters within three miles from the coast. Two years later, Congress passed the Contiguous Fisheries Zone Act(Pub. L. No. 89-658, 80 Stat. 908), which created a nine-mile contiguous zone extending out from the three-mile limit, from which foreign fishing vessels would be excluded. These acts and treaties failed to protect U. S. fisheries as they were intended to. The Bartlett Act provided no authority for federal management measures, limiting the federal government's role to data collection and law enforcement against foreign fishers. Other nations also found their fisheries to be suffering, as most treaties provided no means of enforcement against nations who had not chosen to enter into an agreement. As a result, several countries moved to extend the area of their marine jurisdiction. By 1975, of the parties involved in ongoing law-of-the-sea negotiations, sixty nations including the United States, favored a twelve-mile territorial sea and a two-hundred-mile resource conservation zone. 1, record 60, English, - Bartlett%20Act

We have a lot of commercial zoning in Gateway.... The CM is an odd zone that came into being because of areas such as Hawthorne-there was a desire to try out a mixed-commercial zone. You actually have to put 50% residential in this zone-the only zone that has a required amount of residential. Then it goes up to CX, a high density commercial zone. One of the things that people don’t like is the strip commercial zone of CG and we don’t have much in Gateway. In a lot of zones you can build out to the entire site and with CS it is required. CX is a high-density commercial zone and is used downtown. The other two downtown zones, RX and CX, are close together and this has people very concerned. 1, record 76, English, - RX%20zone

Demilitarization. A zone or territory is said to be demilitarized when two or more States agree by treaty not to fortify it with the end in view of preventing war. A notable example of this was the case of Germany : the treaty of Versailles of 1919 which ended the First World War provided that «all fortified works, fortresses and field works, situated in German territory to the west of a line drawn fifty kilometers to the east of the Rhine, shall be disarmed and dismantled. »The obligation not to fortify is a form of negative servitude. 3, record 86, English, - demilitarization
