ZONE WEAKNESS [5 records]

Record 1 2021-02-26

English

Subject field(s)
  • Internet and Telematics
  • IT Security
DEF

A networking environment with a well-defined boundary, a network security zone authority, and a standard level of weakness to network threats.

OBS

Types of zones are distinguished by security requirements for interfaces, traffic control, data protection, host configuration control, and network configuration control.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Internet et télématique
  • Sécurité des TI
DEF

English

Subject field(s)
  • Tectonics
CONT

[A] diapir [is] a mass of rock, usually salt, which has come from a slightly deeper part of the earth's surface by piercing through overlying layers of sediment through a zone of weakness.

CONT

Fault... refers to a fracture or a break in a hard surface like the Earth's crust. This area is a zone of weakness and may be the site of earthquakes or volcanoes.

CONT

... some of Canada’s youngest volcanoes formed in the weakened zone.

OBS

zone of weakness : term used at Natural Resources Canada-Earth Sciences Sector.

Record 3 2009-05-14

English

Subject field(s)
  • Mathematical Geography
  • Tectonics
DEF

A linear topographical or tonal feature on the terrain and on images and maps, which may represent a zone of structural weakness.

CONT

In some cases, major lineaments have been regarded as controlling factors, e.g. in the case of the Olympic Dam deposit ...

OBS

lineament: term used at Natural Resources Canada - Earth Sciences Sector.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Géographie mathématique
  • Tectonique
CONT

Record 4 1988-09-15

English

Subject field(s)
  • Blasting Work (Mining)
DEF

Line drilling : In this method regular rockdrill holes, about 11/2 inches in diameter, are spaced 4 to 6 inches apart along the perimeter and left uncharged. Larger diameter holes could be placed at greater spacing intervals. The buffer zone between the perimeter holes and the last row of main round holes should be about 8 to 12 inches wide(the buffer distance). The drilled unloaded holes along the periphery alone provide a plane of weakness to which the rock will break readily and cleanly when the round is fired.

Subject field(s)
  • Plate Tectonics
  • Tectonics
OBS

A zone of weakness subsequently used for strike-slip faulting and inter-plate extension.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Tectonique des plaques
  • Tectonique
OBS
