The Service Module will be the first fully Russian contribution to the International Space Station ... The 42,000-pound module, similar in layout to the core module of Russia’s Mir Space Station, will provide the early station living quarters; life support system; electrical power distribution; data processing system; flight control system; and propulsion system. It also will provide a communications system that includes remote command capabilities from ground flight controllers. The Module contains three pressurized compartments. It will have a wingspan of 97.5 feet from tip to tip of the solar arrays, and it will be 43 feet long from end to end. 6, record 1, English, - Zvezda%20service%20module

7, record 1, French, - module%20de%20service%20russe%20Svezda

Although ATV [Automated Transfer Vehicle] will dock to the Russian Zvezda module, it will carry most of its dry payload for the US elements of the ISS [International Space Station]. At the launch site in Kourou, French Guiana, six weeks before flight, Jules Verne will be loaded with 1 300 kg of dry cargo out of the 5 500 kg maximum capacity. Most of the dry cargo provided by NASA will be clothes, food, towels and wipes for the crew, logistics items such as batteries and spare parts for maintenance of the Station. This cargo will also include ESA [European Space Agency] experiments such as ANITA, which will constantly monitor the cabin air, and some Russian hardware to be added to the panels of the Station's Russian Service Module. 2, record 2, English, - dry%20cargo

According to the construction plan of the International Space Station, the Docking Compartment-1 has to be eventually replaced with a much larger Universal Docking Module, UDM. Launched by the Proton rocket, the UDM would provide life-support capabilities for as many as six crewmembers onboard the Russian segment of the ISS. Prior to UDM arrival, the Docking Compartment-1 would be discarded to free the Earth-facing "nadir" port of the Zvezda service module for the UDM. The new Docking Compartment-2, as well as Russia's future science modules, would then be able to dock to multiple ports onboard the UDM. 2, record 5, English, - universal%20docking%20module

2, record 7, French, - composante%20russe
