A class of algorithms have been developed that operate via an iterative offspring production process. These iterative offspring production processes are commonly termed evolutionary algorithms, and include genetic algorithms, mutation algorithms, and the like. In a typical evolutionary algorithm, certain attributes, or genes, are assumed to be related to an ability to perform a given task, different combinations of genes resulting in different levels of effectiveness for performing that task.
