Secondary metabolites have no recognizable function in the physiology of the producing organism. The antibiotic function, for example, is usually derived from compounds excreted too late in the producing organism's life cycle to confer any ecological advantage. There are, however, a few secondary metabolites which may have some physiological significance to the producing organism. Commercially, the most important secondary metabolites are the antibiotics. Of these, penicillin is produced in the greatest quantity, at a rate of 107 kg per annum. Other important antibiotics produced by fermentation are the aminoglycosides, cephalosporins, polyenes, non-polyene macrolides and the tetracyclines. Toxins and alkaloids account for the remainder of the secondary metabolites of industrial importance. Secondary metabolite is not formed as a direct result of the metabolism that keeps the cells alive. Hence the accumulation of a secondary metabolite in a reactor vessel lags behind the growth of the cells that produce it. 2, record 4, English, - secondary%20metabolite

Any used fuel will still contain some of the original U-235 as well as various plutonium isotopes which have been formed inside the reactor core, and the U-238. In total these account for some 96% of the original uranium and over half of the original energy content(ignoring U-238). Reprocessing, undertaken in Europe and Russia, separates this uranium and plutonium from the wastes so that they can be recycled for re-use in a nuclear reactor as a mixed oxide(MOX) fuel. 1, record 7, French, - cycle%20du%20combustible%20ferm%C3%A9

The CargoLifter is an airship, which can carry up to 160t of freight like a crane. Goods up to the size of 12 x 5 x 5 m can be carried at a speed of 100 km/h. Maximum range is 10. 000 km.... The advantage of CargoLifter is, that transport can take place in rural areas with little or no infrastructure. Transport times are cut by a factor of 10 and the complexity of the project is reduced significantly.... The loading cycle will take about half a day to unload and 3/4 days to load. The CargoLifter can take 72 TEU in a box, but the weight volume ratio is very low(1 : 20). The weight alone would account for 136t or 85% of the payload. The remaining 44t can take 2800 cubic meters of space(weight to volume of 1 : 62).... CargoLifter will use marine diesel engines and propellers for thrust. Installed power is expected to be 9. 3 MW, for a top speed of 135 km/h. The average speed will be about 100 km/h, which requires about 5 MW and an hourly fuel consumption of 1 tonne(specific fuel burn approx. 200 g/kWh). 3, record 9, English, - CargoLifter

3, record 9, French, - Cargolifter
