ACCUMULATION OIL GAS [6 records]

Record 1 2015-02-17

English

Subject field(s)
  • Petroleum Deposits
DEF

A layer of gas on top of oil in an underground structure or reservoir.

CONT

When gas alone is used as the injected fluid, it is usually put into the top of the reservoir where gas normally collects to form a gas cap.

CONT

Gas not dissolved in oil as a result of high pressure will collect in the highest part of the reservoir to form a gas cap with the oil below it.

CONT

Gas(being the lightest) occupies the upper part of the reservoir rocks, water occupies the lower portion, and oil occupies the intermediate section. In addition to occurring as a gas cap or as a solution gas, gas may exist as an accumulation independent of the oil; when this holds true, the reservoir is called a gas reservoir.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Gisements pétrolifères
DEF

  • Geology
DEF

... in petroleum geology,... any physical arrangement of rocks(such as an anticline, unconformity or cavity) that may lead to the accumulation of oil or gas;...

CONT

English

Subject field(s)
  • Petroleum Distillation
  • Black Products (Petroleum)
DEF

In petroleum refining, the combustible, viscous, or semiliquid bottoms product from crude oil distillation, used as adhesives, roofing compounds, asphalt, low-grade fuels, and sealants.

CONT

The economics will be favoured by the attainment of a satisfactory heat-and-product balance, requiring neither the import of a subsidiary fuel such as natural gas nor the accumulation of hard-to-dispose-of coke or residual oil.

English

Subject field(s)
  • Oil and Natural Gas Extraction
  • Petroleum Deposits
DEF

[A well] drilled after oil and/or gas have been discovered, in order to establish the limits of the accumulation in terms of both the areal extent and thickness of the reservoir and the volume of hydrocarbons it contains, and in order to obtain fluid samples to investigate the distribution of fluid properties in the reservoir. [Definition standardized by ISO. ]

OBS

As an appraisal well is drilled to gain more information about a field so step-out or delineation wells are special kinds of appraisal well.

  • Gisements pétrolifères
DEF

DEF

A connected, natural underground accumulation of natural gas under one pressure system in the pore spaces or other voids in the rocks.

CONT

In addition to occurring as a gas cap or as a solution gas, gas may exist as an accumulation independent of the oil; when this holds true, the reservoir is called a gas reservoir.

CONT

Western Canadian Oil and Gas Pool reserves. Contains the annual report of established, remaining petroleum reserves for all oil and gas pools. It also contains pool parameters such as; porosity, mean pay thickness, pool area, producing depth and fluid properties.

CONT

Gas Reservoir/Wellbore Orientation Screening Study: Survey of Horizontal Gas Wells.

CONT

This course expands reservoir engineering principles and practices to gas reservoirs. It emphasizes reserve estimation, gas well testing, the prediction of gas well performance, and the development and management of the different types of gas reservoirs.
