Record number: 1, Textual support number: 2 CONT
Body roundness index (BRI) might be a more accurate measurement than body mass index (BMI) for predicting weight-related health risks ... BMI has long been the standard to classify a person’s body weight as too low, normal, overweight, or obese. While BMI often reflects a person’s body fat amount, it doesn’t account for fat distribution or the amount of muscle mass. ... BRI addresses these shortcomings by focusing on a person’s height, waist size, and hip size. By taking weight out of the equation, BRI provides a better indicator of how much belly fat (visceral fat) surrounds the organs inside the abdomen. High amounts of belly fat are linked to high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, and some cancers. 3, record 1, English, - body%20roundness%20index

As food enters the intestines for digestion, the peptide hormone cholecystokinin(CCK) stimulates the vagus nerve to send a satiety signal to the brain. The vagus nerve is therefore sensitive to stomach distension and CCK levels, as well as other factors related to food consumption. It communicates these satiety signals to the brain, and reduces food consumption. Other satiety signals operate over a longer time scale. The most important of these is the hormone leptin..., which is released mostly from adipose cells... The more fat in the cells, the more leptin is released into the bloodstream. When leptin reaches the brain, it signals that enough fat is stored throughout the body. 2, record 6, English, - satiety%20signal

Blubber is a specialized subcutaneous layer of fat found only in marine mammals and is different from other types of adipose tissue in that it is anatomically and biochemically adapted to serve as an efficient and adjustable thermal insulator. The blubber layer is almost continuous across the body of marine mammals, lying over but not tightly fixed to the underlying musculature[, ] but absent on appendages.... Blubber... is composed of numerous fat cells [and is] greatly enriched in collagen and elastic fibers. This gives blubber a firm, tough, and fibrous character... Blubber also contains numerous blood vessels and specialized shunts..., which allows larger and swifter blood flow than would be possible through capillaries alone and are important to the thermoregulation process. 2, record 8, English, - blubber

3, record 8, French, - lard

According to Council Directive 92/5/EEC of 10. 02. 92, rendered animal fat is fat derived from rendering meat, including bones, and intended for human consumption. Tallow is rendered animal fat from bovine origin. Juvenile salmonids have been tagged with coded wires in northwestern North America for about 20 years... By this method, a 1-mm length of wire is given a binary code and inserted with an injector into the nasal region of a young fish. The adipose fin is removed and the tagged fish are then released for their seaward migrations. The returning adults are identified by the missing adipose fin. Their snouts are then removed and passed through a magnetometer to locate the wire, which is removed and decoded. The paper by Shimano et al.(1) in this issue of The Journal reports a series of remarkable findings that were obtained with transgenic mice that expressed a truncated form of sterol regulatory element binding protein-1a(SREBP-1a) under the control of a liver-specific promoter. The livers of these mice were loaded with both cholesterol and triglycerides. Surprisingly, plasma lipid levels were unchanged and white adipose tissue mass decreased significantly. These results may have broad implications regarding the control of lipid metabolism by SREBP. 3, record 36, English, - sterol%20regulatory%20element%20binding%20protein
