The Great Plains low-level jet(GPLLJ), a fast-moving southerly airstream in the lower troposphere, is one of the most important atmospheric circulation features influencing the central U. S. Roughly one-third of the moisture entering this region is transported from the Gulf of Mexico by the GPLLJ, and convergence downstream of the jet promotes the formation of thunderstorms and convective precipitation. 2, record 1, English, - Great%20Plains%20low%2Dlevel%20jet

1, record 1, French, - courant%2Djet%20%C3%A0%20basse%20altitude%20dans%20les%20Grandes%20Plaines

All helicopters incorporate a one-way clutch system that allows the rotor blades to continue to rotate under the effects of inertia and autogiro-type flight in the event of engine failure.... the flow of the airstream through the helicopter rotor disk is reversed. The force of gravity continues the operation of the rotor blade, thereby reducing the rate of descent and allowing a successful emergency landing. Because of the time required to effect this change and the necessity for other flight maneuvers, these characteristics led to the development of a restricted area of operations of the helicopter known as the deadman's curve, bounding that area of height and speed in which the helicopter should not be operated. 1, record 2, English, - deadman%26rsquo%3Bs%20curve

Rainout(or snowout), which is the in-cloud capture of particulates as condensation nuclei, is one form of scavenging. The other form is washout, the below-cloud capture of particulates and gaseous pollutants by falling raindrops. Large particles are most efficiently removed by washout. Small particles(especially those less than 1 m in diameter) more easily follow the airstream flowing around raindrops and generally avoid capture by raindrops except in heavy rain events. 9, record 8, English, - scavenging%20by%20precipitation

When the aircraft gets on the ground an external check has to be made to ensure the plane is sound and capable of flight. A bonding check most definitely will be done to ensure that none of the bonding strips were burnt through. Bonding strips are just strands of braided conductive material that allows the charges that are carried by the aircraft(due mainly to friction with the moving airstream) to equalize throughout the aircraft. In any event what should happen is that the current from the lightening should pass throught the structure, through the bonding strips and be discharged into the atmosphere through the static wicks that are on the trailing edge of the wing tips and rudder. 2, record 13, English, - lightning%20diverter%20strip

A turbofan is a type of aircraft engine consisting of a ducted fan which is powered by a gas turbine. Part of the airstream from the ducted fan passes through the gas turbine core, providing oxygen to burn fuel to create power. However, most of the air flow bypasses the engine core, and is accelerated by the fan blades in much the same manner as a propeller. The combination of thrust produced from the fan and the exhaust from the core is a more efficient process than other jet engine designs, resulting in a comparatively low specific fuel consumption. 5, record 16, English, - bypass%20engine

Since our model employs a single layer of vegetation, there is only one pair of air resistors to consider within the vegetation canopy: one between the leaf surface and the surrounding air and another between the ground surface and the interleaf air spaces. After that, the ground fluxes and leaf fluxes join and move above the canopy through air resistance at the top and above the canopy, called ra; this resistance, like all resistances we have see thus far, decreases with increasing wind speed. 3, record 24, English, - air%20resistance

The least desirable flow condition is one that causes spin or swirl to develop in the airstream at the fan inlet. Spin in the rotational direction of the impeller reduces the fan output and efficiency. Figure 13 illustrates the use of turning vanes to correct inlet prerotating swirl at a centrifugal fan. 6, record 36, English, - turning%20vanes
Record number: 36, Textual support number: 2 CONT
Inlet swirl, or vorticity, is a frequent cause of reduction in fan performance. If the spin is imparted in the direction of wheel rotation, a situation corresponding to the use of inlet vanes arises: the fan volume, pressure, and horsepower are lower than expected. If the air spin is counter to wheel rotation, the volume and static pressure will be greater than expected and the brake horsepower will also be greater. In either case, spin always reduces efficiency. These conditions are readily overcome by installing vanes and a splitter at the fan inlet... 3, record 36, English, - turning%20vanes

Centrifugal fans are enclosed in a scroll-shaped housing, which is designed for efficient airstream energy transfer. This type of fan has the most versatility and low first cost and is the workhorse of the industry. Impeller blades may be radial, forward-curved, backward-inclined, or airfoil. When large volumes of air are moved, airfoil or backward-inclined blades are preferable because of higher efficiencies. For smaller volumes of air, forward-curved blades are used with satisfactory results. 4, record 43, English, - forward%20curved%20blade

1, record 44, French, - a%C3%A9rotherme%20%C3%A0%20soufflage%20horizontal
