6, record 10, French, - longueur%20d%27onde%20de%20la%20lumi%C3%A8re

To this end the Design Certification Review, established for manned flights, serves an important role. Shortly our program of progressive Design Certification Reviews leading to certification for the manned lunar landing will commence. A significant part of the effort requires a comprehensive supporting analysis of critical hardware to assure that all single failure points have been identified and accepted by all levels of Apollo Program management.... it [is] necessary, therefore, that the Design Certification Review program formally record a listing of single failure points existing in flight and launch critical ground equipment which would cause crew or mission loss, together with a statement of rationale for accepting the risk of each of these single failure points. 3, record 21, English, - single%20failure%20point

Early telemetry from the spin-stabilized IMAGE spacecraft indicated that the vehicle's initial nutation was not decaying. This behavior was especially puzzling because the spacecraft's passive nutation damper behaved as expected while IMAGE was attached to the spinning upper stage.... In a partially-filled ring damper, the excess kinetic energy associated with nutation is dissipated by fluid viscosity when inertial forces cause the liquid to move through the tube. However, post-launch analysis indicated that the IMAGE damper liquid was immobilized by surface tension. This was an unanticipated consequence of the vehicle's low spin rate. 2, record 22, English, - ring%20damper

Equipment maintenance organisations were once judged for their ability to react quickly to breakdowns and how long it took to get equipment working again... Today, though, smart equipment maintenance managers are busy replacing these old values with higher-level paradigms of excellence. These managers are essentially working themselves out of their old jobs and inventing new ones with titles that include terms such as reliability engineering, asset management, asset utilisation, availability management and risk management. This new breed of manager uses modern technology and analysis techniques to attack the root cause of equipment failures and to eliminate the need for maintenance intervention whenever possible. 1, record 24, English, - maintenance%20intervention

One method used to uncover all the things that could go wrong is the "event tree/fault tree" analysis technique. Event tree work is not unlike following a multi-branched trail of dominoes as they knock each other over in sequence. Such analysis allows the tracing of things that could occur after the initiating events. Paths of action and consequences are traced, sometimes to great length. The fault tree technique, a favorite tool of AECB staff members, is a means of finding out what combinations of component and system failures would cause an event in the first place. It provides a systematic method of checking that the systems being relied on to prevent something worse happening won’t be knocked out by the event itself. 1, record 25, English, - event%20tree%2Ffault%20tree%20analysis%20technique

1, record 25, French, - technique%20dite%20%C2%ABarbre%20d%27%C3%A9v%C3%A9nements%20et%20arbre%20de%20d%C3%A9faillances%C2%BB

The analysis of transport costs is extended, and 3 possible paradoxes that may arise when the introduction of changes in transport costs affect the terms of trade are delineated : 1. the improvement in the terms of trade for the transport-producing nation may more than offset the adverse welfare implications of a rise in the real(resource) cost of international transportation, 2. a Metzler-like paradox, and 3. a Lerner paradox, where the shipping country's terms of trade might deteriorate and cause a further drop in welfare. 1, record 30, English, - shipping%20country
