The motion of free-floating space robots is characterized by non-holonomic constraints, i. e., non-integrable rate constraint equations. These constraints originate from the principles of conservation of angular momentum. It is well known that these rate constraints can also be written to form an input-affine drift-less control system. Trajectory planning of these systems is extremely challenging and computation intensive since the motion must satisfy differential constraints. Under certain conditions, these drift-less control systems can be shown to be differentially flat. 1, record 1, English, - free%2Dfloating%20space%20robot

To date, most of the research on the control of space robots has centered on "free-floating" robots. Free-floating robots are defined as space robots where the satellite base position and orientation are unactuated. Without base actuation, no external forces or torques act upon the system when the end-effector is not in contact with the work environment. The linear and angular momenta of the system are conserved, so the spacecraft base moves in reaction to commanded arm motion. 2, record 1, English, - free%2Dfloating%20space%20robot

CVGs [Coriolis vibrating gyroscope] have three features in common : a mechanical resonator, an oscillator and a force-displacement sensor. One mode of the resonator is maintained in resonance by an oscillator loop while oscillations are induced in a second vibration mode. Angular rate gyro accuracy is characterized by two parameters : scale factor and drift. The scale factor describes the capability of the gyro to accurately sense angular velocity at different angular rates... Gyro drift characterizes the ability of the gyro to reference all rate measurements to the nominal zero point. It appears as an additive term on the gyro output, so any actual drift away from a given or predetermined value will cause the angular errors to accumulate. 3, record 4, English, - gyro%20drift

The variation of the direction in space is a conical motion, with vertex at the center of mass, around a perpendicular to the plane of the earth's orbit around the sun, in which the earth and the axis of rotation move together with no change in the position of the axis within the earth. This motion is caused by the gravitational attractions of the sun and the moon. The axis describes a sinuous conical surface at an irregularly varying rate; the motion is, therefore, represented as the resultant of a steady progressive motion in a circular cone of angular opening about 47°, called the "lunisolar precession"... 3, record 15, English, - lunisolar%20precession

The angular momentum of a tumbling orbiting satellite is changed to reduce the spinning of the spacecraft such that the spacecraft can operate in an essentially stabilized condition. The change in spin rate is accomplished by the development of a magnetic torque by commutation of magnetic air coils in response to Earth sensor signals controlled by spacecraft logic. The coils are disposed to produce magnetic dipoles transverse to the satellite spin axis such that by interacting with the Earth's magnetic field a torque is developed in a direction opposite the spin vector. The logic selects the proper magnetic dipole based upon data from sensors detecting the presence of the Earth for the development of the desired magnetic torque. 5, record 16, English, - magnetotorquer

Angular rate gyro accuracy is characterized by two parameters : scale factor and drift. The scale factor describes the capability of the gyro to accurately sense angular velocity at different angular rates. This value is used to convert the voltage output from the gyro into an angular rate. System imperfections can cause small variations in the scale factor. These variations appear as a factor at the output of the gyro. Gyro drift characterizes the ability of the gyro to reference all rate measurements to the nominal zero point. 3, record 22, English, - angular%20velocity

Angular velocity is the time rate of change of angular displacement. More simply it is a measure of how fast an object is rotating. For example, the measure of a skater's spinning speed during a sit spin is called angular velocity. Angular velocity is calculated by subtracting the initial angular position from the final angular position and dividing by the time it took to get from the initial to final position. Angular velocity is measured in radians/second(SI units) or degrees/second or revolutions/second(English units). 4, record 22, English, - angular%20velocity

The Coriolis force experienced by an object moving with a velocity relative to a rotating reference frame can be used to sense this angular motion. This force is proportional to the relative velocity and to the angular rate and is perpendicular to both. This principle was demonstrated in the 19th century by Foucault with his pendulum and by Bryan with his ringing wine-glass experiment. Gyroscopes employing this principle are called Coriolis vibrating gyroscopes or CVGs. 3, record 23, English, - Coriolis%20vibratory%20gyro

It appears as an additive term on the gyro output, so any actual drift away from a given or predetermined value will cause the angular errors to accumulate. 2, record 25, English, - angular%20error

Rate gyroscopes provide a means for measuring angular rate about a particular axis and are traditionally used in a variety of high accuracy control and guidance systems in aircraft, missiles and ships. The conventional rate gyro, based on a high speed rotor, is a mature but relatively complex, delicate and expensive product. For these reasons and the increasing market for less expensive devices, a great deal of research effort has been invested into the development of a rate gyro with a vibrating sensitive element, which would eliminate the need for ball bearing suspensions and hence reduce the mechanical complexity and cost whilst greatly increasing life and robustness. The principle of operation of these devices is based on the coriolis force, which couples together two degenerate modes of vibration of the sensitive element when the sensor rotates. 1, record 29, English, - conventional%20rate%20gyro

3, record 34, English, - scale%20factor

3, record 36, French, - ensemble%20de%20navigation%20inertielle%20%C3%A0%20six%20degr%C3%A9s%20de%20libert%C3%A9

A further use of gyroscopes is found in their employment as stabilizers, as on aircraft and ships, to keep inertial guidance systems steady despite the sometimes violent motions of the vehicles. In such cases the gyroscope is made very large and given a large amount of angular momentum. The rate of precession will then be very small, since the precession is inversely proportional to the angular momentum; this small rate of precession means that the system resists angular displacements. 4, record 38, English, - rate%20of%20precession
