[Axial bellows], of the type shown on a wellhead ..., transmit high compressive or tensile forces to the anchors, which must in consequence be sufficiently robust to resist these forces. They provide a rather expensive means of compensation, and are therefore used only where space restrictions prohibit the use of any form of looping - e.g. within a power house building, or in a hot water transmission pipe where vertical looping ... cannot be adopted. Internal metal sleeves greatly reduce steam friction in corrugated axial bellows. 1, record 1, English, - axial%20bellows

The gyros are used to maintain the platform’s inertial orientation by sensing rotations of the platform caused by vehicle-rotation-induced friction at the gimbal pivot points ... One gyro - called the vertical gyro - is oriented so its input axes are aligned with the X and Y platform axes; its input axes provide IMU [Inertial Measurement Unit] platform roll and pitch stabilization. The second gyro is oriented so that one input axis lies along the platform’s Z axis and the other lies in the X-Y plane. This gyro - the azimuth gyro - provides platform yaw stabilization with the Z input axis, while the second input axis is used as a platform rate detector for built-in test equipment. 3, record 7, English, - azimuth%20gyroscope
Record number: 7, Textual support number: 2 CONT
The sensors for angular velocity are vibrating gyroscopes(3 axes, to detect rotation and pitch/roll pendulations of the payload). An error signal is obtained differencing the signal from the azimuth gyroscope and a constant level settable from the telemetry, which controls the speed of rotation. Such error signal drives an analog PID [Proportional Integral Differential] circuit; the output of the PID is connected to the PWM [Pulse Width Modulation] driver supplying current to the pivot azimuth motors. 3, record 7, English, - azimuth%20gyroscope

The variation of the direction in space is a conical motion, with vertex at the center of mass, around a perpendicular to the plane of the earth's orbit around the sun, in which the earth and the axis of rotation move together with no change in the position of the axis within the earth. This motion is caused by the gravitational attractions of the sun and the moon. The axis describes a sinuous conical surface at an irregularly varying rate; the motion is, therefore, represented as the resultant of a steady progressive motion in a circular cone of angular opening about 47°, called the "lunisolar precession"... 3, record 12, English, - lunisolar%20precession

[The] windmill anemometer [is] an anemometer in which a windmill is driven by the air stream, and its rotation is transmitted through gearing to dials or other recording mechanism. In some instruments, the rotating vanes and dials are in the same plane; i.e., both vertical, while in others the dial is horizontal. In the windmill type, the operation of air measurement involves readings of dials at the beginning and end of a measured period. Windmill instruments may be fitted with an extension handle, providing a form of remote control; used to measure air speed in an otherwise inaccessible spot. 3, record 13, English, - windmill%20anemometer

... we conclude... that the inertia forces main moment for the rigid body rotation around the fixed axis has three components : the first one is purely rotatory around the rotation axis collinear with it if the angular acceleration is different from zero and it is proportional to the angular acceleration [xxx] and the body mass axial inertia moment for the rotation axis, [yyy] ;and the second deviational component is normal to the rotation axis which also depends on the angular acceleration and the vector [zzz] of the deviation load of the rotation axis; and third component depending on the angular velocity squared of the rigid body rotation around the fixed axis and on the magnitude of the mass deviation moment vector of the rotation axis at the pole in the stationary bearing. 1, record 18, English, - axial%20inertia%20moment

By drawing an analogy between linear and rotational dynamics, an equation describing the viscous torque acting on an object rotating in a fluid can be anticipated. Stokes’ and Newton's models of a viscous drag force are commonly used to describe the damping force acting on an object moving linearly through a fluid. This experiment demonstrates that these models can be extended to describe the viscous torque that damps the rotation of an object in a fluid. When the rotating object is round, the fluid flow is laminar; hence, the viscous torque is proportional to the angular velocity to the first power, analogous to Stokes’ model. However, when the rotating object is rough, causing the fluid flow to be turbulent, the viscous torque is proportional to the angular velocity to the second power, analogous to Newton's model. In addition, this experiment demonstrates that the proportionality constant between viscous torque and angular velocity is dependent on the shape of the object, as is the case in both Stokes’ and Newton's models. 1, record 22, English, - viscous%20torque

[...] Principe. Effet Sagnac. 3, record 27, French, - interf%C3%A9rom%C3%A8tre%20de%20Sagnac%20circulaire

The planets of our Solar System formed due to two properties of interstellar clouds :rotation and turbulence. When clouds fragment during contraction, individual fragments turn this way and that, each having inherited the angular momentum(spin) of one or a few discrete whorls or eddies in the original clouds. Each cloud fragment(a potential star) would have rotated faster and faster as it contracted, owing to the physical necessity of conserving its angular momentum-much as a skater spins up when he/she folds in her/his arms. Fragments with low angular momentum form the core and fragments with high angular momentum populate a flattened disk orbiting the core, with a shape similar to many galaxies. Often the core itself is fragmented, leading to binary and multiple star systems. 1, record 34, English, - cloud%20fragment
