The gyros are used to maintain the platform’s inertial orientation by sensing rotations of the platform caused by vehicle-rotation-induced friction at the gimbal pivot points ... One gyro - called the vertical gyro - is oriented so its input axes are aligned with the X and Y platform axes; its input axes provide IMU [Inertial Measurement Unit] platform roll and pitch stabilization. The second gyro is oriented so that one input axis lies along the platform’s Z axis and the other lies in the X-Y plane. This gyro - the azimuth gyro - provides platform yaw stabilization with the Z input axis, while the second input axis is used as a platform rate detector for built-in test equipment. 3, record 3, English, - azimuth%20gyroscope

The sensors for angular velocity are vibrating gyroscopes(3 axes, to detect rotation and pitch/roll pendulations of the payload). An error signal is obtained differencing the signal from the azimuth gyroscope and a constant level settable from the telemetry, which controls the speed of rotation. Such error signal drives an analog PID [Proportional Integral Differential] circuit; the output of the PID is connected to the PWM [Pulse Width Modulation] driver supplying current to the pivot azimuth motors. 3, record 3, English, - azimuth%20gyroscope

gimballed momentum wheel : Better attitude control and energy storage can be achieved by using a pair of counter-rotating micro wheels. This configuration enables micro-satellites to change their angular momentum and orientation with very little net change in stored energy. Likewise, energy can be extracted or added to a pair of wheels without changing the satellite's attitude. Power can be saved while using a regenerative brake state to decrease the speed, or this braking energy can be used to accelerate the other micro-wheel rotating in the opposite direction in a gimballed momentum wheel. Thus, it can sustain spacecraft with limited power during a short-term space mission. 2, record 5, English, - single%2Dgimballed%20momentum%20wheel

[The] windmill anemometer [is] an anemometer in which a windmill is driven by the air stream, and its rotation is transmitted through gearing to dials or other recording mechanism. In some instruments, the rotating vanes and dials are in the same plane; i.e., both vertical, while in others the dial is horizontal. In the windmill type, the operation of air measurement involves readings of dials at the beginning and end of a measured period. Windmill instruments may be fitted with an extension handle, providing a form of remote control; used to measure air speed in an otherwise inaccessible spot. 3, record 7, English, - windmill%20anemometer

Angular rate gyro accuracy is characterized by two parameters: scale factor and drift. The scale factor describes the capability of the gyro to accurately sense angular velocity at different angular rates. This value is used to convert the voltage output from the gyro into an angular rate. System imperfections can cause small variations in the scale factor. These variations appear as a factor at the output of the gyro. Gyro drift characterizes the ability of the gyro to reference all rate measurements to the nominal zero point. 3, record 11, English, - angular%20velocity

Angular velocity is the time rate of change of angular displacement. More simply it is a measure of how fast an object is rotating. For example, the measure of a skater's spinning speed during a sit spin is called angular velocity. Angular velocity is calculated by subtracting the initial angular position from the final angular position and dividing by the time it took to get from the initial to final position. Angular velocity is measured in radians/second(SI units) or degrees/second or revolutions/second(English units). 4, record 11, English, - angular%20velocity

There are many... ways of measuring angular speeds. In fact, it is always possible to integrate information from a position sensor by means of a suitable electronic circuit. Vice versa, acceleration measurement can be diverted to obtain speed information. Furthermore, much more sophisticated means are used, such as mechanical gyrometers, optical gyrometers, radar, Doppler, etc. 1, record 13, English, - mechanical%20gyrometer

Rate gyroscopes provide a means for measuring angular rate about a particular axis and are traditionally used in a variety of high accuracy control and guidance systems in aircraft, missiles and ships. The conventional rate gyro, based on a high speed rotor, is a mature but relatively complex, delicate and expensive product. For these reasons and the increasing market for less expensive devices, a great deal of research effort has been invested into the development of a rate gyro with a vibrating sensitive element, which would eliminate the need for ball bearing suspensions and hence reduce the mechanical complexity and cost whilst greatly increasing life and robustness. The principle of operation of these devices is based on the coriolis force, which couples together two degenerate modes of vibration of the sensitive element when the sensor rotates. 1, record 14, English, - conventional%20rate%20gyro

The adhesive tape is wrapped around a disk and is pulled with a constant speed at a fixed distance. In a narrow range of the pull speed, the angular speed of the contact line exhibits stick-slip behaviors with irregular bifurcations, which is then followed by the appearance of a period one stick-slip motion before displaying chaotic behaviors with distinctively positive Liapunov exponents. 1, record 19, English, - contact%20line

The rotating-vane-type viscosity measuring element depends upon the drag on a rotating member in contact with the material whose viscosity is to be measured. The vane or rotating element is driven by a synchronous electrical motor. The torque required to rotate the member of the vane is measured and is proportional to the viscosity in contact with the rotating element. The synchronous motor drives the cage at a constant speed. The upper spindle arm is coupled to the cage through a calibrated beryllium-copper spring. During measurement, the spring is wound up until its force exactly equals the viscous drag on the spindle; then the cage and spindle continue to operate at the same speed, but with a definite angular relationship to each other proportional to the torque on the spring. 4, record 20, English, - rotating%20spindle%20apparatus%20for%20measuring%20viscosity
