DEF

product of the net radiated RF power of a transmitter and the gain of an antenna system in one direction relative to an isotropic source

OBS

The maximum power gain of a transmitting antenna in any direction multiplied by the net power accepted by the antenna from the connected transmitter.

OBS

Example: 36 dBm EIRP equals 4 W transmitted into an isotropic antenna, or 1 W transmitted into a 6 dB antenna.

OBS

Also referred to as effective isotropically radiated power, equivalent isotropical radiated power, and effective isotropical radiated power.

OBS

DEF

A man transportable ground-based communications intercept, processing, and direction finding system.

OBS

The system is ideal for intercept or direction finding operations in light, airborne, air assault and special operations force(SOF) operations. The 60 pound system can be carried by two soldiers. The receiver/processor subsystem fits in one soldier's all-purpose lightweight individual carrying equipment(ALICE) pack and the antenna sybsystem goes in another ALICE pack. A complete station can be rapidly relocated, optimizing its use in the forward areas of operations. External communications are provided by secure combat net radio(CNR).

CONT

Two tapes made of 5 cm (2") wide white material, 1 m (3’3") long shall be fastened near each end of the net, vertical to the side lines and the centre line. Coinciding with the outside edge of the tapes, two flexible antennas shall be fastened to the net at a distance of 9 m (29’6") from each other. These two antennas shall be 1.80 m (6’) long with a diameter of approximately 10 mm (3/8") and be made of fibreglass or similar material and shall extend 80 cm (32") above the top of the net. The antennas shall be of contrasted colours [red and white in general] alternating in 10 cm (4") long sections. The side markers and the antennas are considered as part of the net.

CONT

The aerials extending above the top of the net, for international matches, are of bright contrasting colours.

CONT
