DEF

Wireless microwave transmission system for point-to-multipoint transmission. Operates in the 27.5 to 28.35 GHz range and 29.2 to 29.325 GHz range.

OBS

Much like MMDS, but using a different frequency band and carrying up to 49 channels. The receiving antenna is much smaller : a dish six inches across that can fit on a window sill. The signal is less prone to obstruction than MMDS because it is frequency-modulated, like FM radio. But like MMDS, the transmission range is short. Source : NYT_950418
