Where sludge samples are available prior to design and installation, it is advantageous to test sludge filterability in the laboratory. The Buchner funnel method consists of pouring a chemically conditioned sludge sample into a filter-paper-lined funnel and dewatering under vacuum. With this procedure, it is possible to predict suitability of a sludge for filtration and applicability of certain chemicals... 3, record 1, English, - filterability

Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 OBS
The uniaxial tension test has been used to determine tensile strengths of rock samples. This test is not very satisfactory, particularly for brittle rocks, owing to the difficulty of eliminating any eccentricity of loading. In addition, the concept of the weak link probably has more applicability to this test than in most of the other tests. For these reasons, it is not used very much either for research purposes or for practical applications. 1, record 3, English, - uniaxial%20tension%20test

Record 3, Textual support, French
Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 OBS
1, record 3, French, - essai%20de%20traction%20uniaxiale
