At selected locations in the U.S. Lab (9 ISPRs - International Standard Payload Racks) and the [Japanese Experiment Module - JEM] (5 ISPRs), a low-temperature water loop (0.6-10 °C or 33-50 °F) is provided via a 1.3 cm (0.5 in.) line with a quick-disconnect. The maximum return temperature on this loop is 21 °C (70 °F). A pressure drop of 40 kPa (5.8 psid) is allowed across the inlet and outlet of both water loop interfaces. Payloads can also dissipate small amounts of heat into the cabin air. Depending on the temperature conditions set by the crew, a minimum of 500 W can be dissipated into both the U.S. Lab and Columbus (complement of all payloads within the module). Although dangerous problems require the line to be closed and repairs must be made before the track can be used again, more commonly a track inspector simply downgrades track by imposing a speed restriction that allows continued passage of trains without the need for immediate repair. Some of these "slow orders" are permanent restrictions in places where trains must always move at slower-than-line speeds in order to operate safely. A SQUID Magnetometer is a superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) [which] consists of two superconductors separated by thin insulating layers to form two parallel Josephson junctions. The device may be configured as a magnetometer to detect incredibly small magnetic fields - small enough to measure the magnetic fields in living organisms. Squids have been used to measure the magnetic fields in mouse brains to test whether there might be enough magnetism to attribute their navigational ability to an internal compass. 2, record 45, English, - SQUID%20magnetometer

3, record 45, French, - magn%C3%A9tom%C3%A8tre%20%C3%A0%20SQUID

A superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) is a mechanism used to measure extremely weak signals, such as subtle changes in the human body’s electromagnetic energy field. 3, record 46, English, - superconducting%20quantum%20interference%20device
Record number: 46, Textual support number: 2 CONT
Using a device called a Josephson junction, a SQUID can detect a change of energy as much as 100 billion times weaker than the electromagnetic energy that moves a compass needle. A Josephson junction is made up of two superconductors, separated by an insulating layer so thin that electrons can pass through. A SQUID consists of tiny loops of superconductors employing Josephson junctions to achieve superposition: each electron moves simultaneously in both directions. Because the current is moving in two opposite directions, the electrons have the ability to perform as qubits (that theoretically could be used to enable quantum computing). SQUIDs have been used for a variety of testing purposes that demand extreme sensitivity, including engineering, medical, and geological equipment. Because they measure changes in a magnetic field with such sensitivity, they do not have to come in contact with a system that they are testing. 3, record 46, English, - superconducting%20quantum%20interference%20device

4, record 46, French, - dispositif%20supraconducteur%20%C3%A0%20interf%C3%A9rence%20quantique

Ariane-5 (Expendable Rocket) is part of the European Union’s Space Program. At present, the Ariane 5 functions as a Commercial Satellite Launcher and will be used to launch the ATV Cargo/Supply Spacecraft to the International Space station (ISS) in the future. Ariane-5 is the successor to Ariane 4. ... The Main Cryogenic Stage is the core of the Ariane 5 launcher. It is 30 meters high and utilizes the Vulcain Rocket Engine. The propellants are liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen. Two Solid Rocket Boosters are around 30 metres high. The two solid boosters deliver more than 90 percent of the total launcher’s thrust at the start of flight. Upper Stage is used to propel the payload to its final orbit. The upper stage uses storable propellants. Ariane-5 is developing new upper stages, along with modifications to the main cryogenic stage and solid boosters, that will increase performance and meet demands of space commercial launch market. 2, record 62, English, - Ariane%205

The second step is to create a downlink schedule. Each SAR data acquisition must either be downlinked to a ground receiving station as it is being acquired or saved to the onboard data recorder for later downlink. The duration and start times of the downlink windows vary from orbit to orbit, and all the recorded data must be downlinked within a single window (the recorder is effectively erased after each downlink).
