Bakanae is caused by the fungus Fusarium. While it is generally thought of as a seedling disease, it can be observed throughout the growing season. Infected seedlings are taller and more slender and are often visible arching above the healthy rice plants. As the season progresses, bakanae-infected plants may die before reaching maturity, or if they survive to heading, the panicles they produce are mostly empty. The fungus can over winter in the soil and residue as spores on the coat of infested seeds, leading to infected plants in the field the following season. 7, record 3, English, - Bakanae%20disease

Une autre solution serait d'utiliser une expression descriptive comme "construction légère à toiture cintrée". Highly specialized domatia are found in southeast Asian species of the family Rubiaceae. These relatives of coffee and gardenias are the classic ant-fed ant-house plants. ... The domatium of these epiphytes is the base of the stem which becomes enlarged into a tuber. Hollow, interconnected chambers form within the tuber as tissue dies back. The chambers have entrance holes which allow the ants access, and in some cases, tiny pores further ventilate the chambers ... Nutrients released by decay of the ants’ waste, mostly leftover insect pieces, are absorbed by special "warts" inside the chambers ... 3, record 32, English, - ant%2Dplant

The solids conveying in the feed hopper is generally a gravity flow of particulate polymer; the material moves down the feed hopper by its own weight. Unfortunately, this does not always work without problems. Some materials have poor bulk flow characteristics and may get stuck in the feed hopper. This problem is called arching or bridging. It is likely to occur when the particle shape is irregular, when the particle size is small, and when the internal friction of the bulk material is high. 3, record 33, English, - arching

Crib-biting and wind-sucking are different varieties of the same vice, which are learned chiefly by young horses. In each case the horse swallows air.... A ’wind-sucker’ achieves the same end [as the crib-biter], but it does not require a resting-place for the teeth. Air is swallowed by firmly closing the mouth, arching the neck, and gulping down air.... Accompanying each swallowing effort there is usually a distinct grunt. Some horses which have been crib-biters learn to wind-suck when remedial measures are taken, and there are some wind-suckers which learn to crib-bite. 1, record 34, English, - wind%2Dsuck
