Zymogens are kept from exerting proteolytic activity on intracellular proteins so long as they remain within the cells in which they are made. They are turned on to generate the active form only after they are secreted.... Immobilized enzymes have been used to investigate the activation mechanisms of various kinds of zymogens. For instance, the activation mechanism of chymotrypsinogen to chymotrypsin was investigated using trypsin immobilized by diazo binding with p-aminobenzyl cellulose or with CM-cellulose azide. 5, record 3, English, - zymogen

Phenylazide is an organic compound. It is one of the prototypical organic azides. It has a pungent odor. It is prepared by the diazotization of phenylhydrazine with nitrous acid. [It] is used to make heterocycles via cycloaddition to alkenes and especially alkynes, particularly those bearing electronegative substituents. 4, record 14, English, - azidobenzene

The Km value for ficin immobilized by peptide binding with CM-cellulose azide decreased by 1/10 compared with that of the native enzyme, when benzoyl-L-arginine ethyl ester(BAEE) was used as a substrate. This decrease can be explained in terms of an increase of electrostatic attractive force between the polyanionic carrier, CM-cellulose, and positively charged substrate, BAEE, so that the substrate concentration in the immobilized enzyme region becomes higher than that in the external solution. 1, record 15, English, - polyanionic%20carrier

Azides are a group of both organic and inorganic compounds containing the N3 functional group. In general, azides are reactive and toxic. In fact, inorganic azides are commonly used as preservatives in biological solutions because of the ability of the N3 group to bind tightly to cytochromes and block electron transport and ATP synthesis. All of the heavy metal azides and most, if not all, of the light metal azides are explosive under the right conditions. They must be handled with the utmost care and protected from light, shock, and heat. 2, record 26, English, - light%20metal%20azide

More energetic propellants may reduce the launch costs of satellites, as this allows an increase in payload for the same total launch mass. These cost reductions are crucial to maintain Europe's strong position on the launcher market. The new, energetic oxidiser HNF(hydrazinium nitroformate) combined with a new energetic binder like GAP(glycidyl azide polymer) yields enhanced propellant performance, compared to the current state of the art : ammonium perchlorate(AP) based solid propellants. 2, record 29, English, - energetic%20binder
