BACK PRESSURE VALVE [17 records]

Record 1 2016-07-06

English

Subject field(s)
  • Sports Equipment and Accessories
CONT

The entry from the intermediate pressure hose into the second stage is sealed with a spring-loaded valve. The spring is just strong enough to hold back the intermediate pressure. The valve is also connected to a lever that touches the membrane of the second stage. When a diver inhales, the membrane is pulled inward. This action pushes the lever down. The movement of the lever opens the valve and air can flow into the second stage. When the diver stops inhaling, the membrane moves back to its original position and the second stage valve can close again.

CONT

High level valve noise is usually indicative of severe impacts associated with the opening and closing of the valves. Impacts at the valve closing are sometimes referred to as valve hammer and can result in damage to the sealing surfaces. Impacts at the valve opening, which may be identified by damage to the back side of the valve disc, are due to the over pressure and under pressure spikes which can result in fatigue failures of the components.

CONT

A supercharger which is located between the carburetor outlet and the intake manifold of the engine is called an internal supercharger. A supercharger thus located serves to provide a uniform distribution of the fuel-air charge to the various cylinders, as well as to increase the density of the charge. Maintaining a high manifold pressure ahead of the intake valves allows the use of "valve overlap" in the engine, so that the intake valve opens just before the exhaust valve closes at the end of the exhaust stroke. This allows the compressed mixture from the intake manifold to scavenge the spent gases out of the clearance volume of the cylinder and also tends to improve the cooling of the exhaust valve. This cooling is of particular importance when operating at "military" or "take-off" power. With no supercharging between the carburetor and the intake valves, "valve overlapping" would permit exhaust gases to flow back into the intake manifold. This would cause backfiring and dilution of the next charge of mixture with burned exhaust gases.

OBS

There is another difference between internally driven superchargers and turbochargers ... The internal supercharger compresses the fuel/air mixture after it leaves the carburetor or fuel metering device, while the turbocharger compresses the air before it is mixed with metered fuel.

DEF

An orifice installed in a line to restrict the flow or control the rate of production.

CONT

Surface chokes are part of the Christmas tree and contain a choke nipple, or bean, with a small-diameter bore that serves to restrict the flow. Chokes are also used to control the rate of flow of the drilling mud out of the hole when the well is closed in with the blowout preventer and a kick is being circulated out of the hole.

CONT

A choke is a type of valve with a conical gate and matching seat concentric with the bore of the valve. The choke can be adjusted to give whatever orifice is required to provide a back pressure on the well in order to control it...

OBS

chk: ... abbreviation for choke; used in drilling reports.

Valve gating. This type of gate is where a pin is held in the gate or channel by spring tension and as the plunger comes forward, it compresses the plastic in the runner. When this pressure build-up is sufficient to overcome the spring tension, the pin is then pushed back(pulled) and the fast decompression of the plastic fills the cavity at extremely high speed.

CONT

When the valve is open, the melting or plasticizing cylinder pushes the material into the nozzle end of the pot, forcing the plunger back. When the plunger moves back an experimentally predetermined distance, the filling stops and the valve is closed, because the backward motion of the plunger actuates a limit switch. At the appropriate time in the cycle the material is injected into the mold from the second cylinder, the so-called shooting cylinder or pot. This method of operation gives much better mixing of the plastic, more even temperature distribution, and better control of speed, pressure, and the amount of material. This type machine is called a preplasticizing machine.

Vacuum breakers are basically anti-syphonage preventers and should never be used where there is any possibility of back pressure. They fall into 2 categories : a. Atmospheric Type... b. Pressure Type... The atmospheric type vacuum breaker is designed for intermittent service only. It should never be installed with a shut-off valve on the outlet side. It should only be used where it will be under pressure for short periods(maximum : 12 hours in a 24-hour period), not under pressure most of the time. Typical applications are : a. Washing Machines; b. Lawn Sprinkler Systems; c. Photographic Developing Tanks; and d. Vending Machines. This type of vacuum breaker is mounted directly in the line, and has a limited flow capacity due to the fact that line flow passes through the vacuum breaker.

Even the smallest rabbitry benefits from an automatic or semi-automatic system. The simplest watering system is semi-automatic. There are two types of valves : the dewdrop valve and the pivoting valve. With a pivoting valve, the stem is on a spring. It bends out of the way during drinking; then swings back to stop the water flow. Pivoting and other spring-loaded valves are less sensitive to line pressure.

CONT

Even the smallest rabbittry benefits from an automatic or semi-automatic system. The simplest watering system is semi-automatic. You fill a holding tank(perhaps just a large bucket) elevated above the hutches, and the water flows down through pipes alongside the cages. Valves are inserted into the pipe at each cage. The rabbits bite on the valves to release the water. There are two types of valves. The "dewdrop" valve has a metal stem in it which is dislodged when bit or licked. This allows the water to trickle through. After a rabbit has stopped drinking, the stem drops back into the valve opening and is held in place by the water pressure.
