Record 1 2017-10-27

English

Subject field(s)
  • Baseball and Softball
CONT

Rounding a base. When a runner approaches a base, he swerves to the right side of the base path so that he can minimize the distance he has to travel to the next base. When rounding the bases, runners are allowed to swerve 15 feet beyond the base line.

OBS

Rounding a base is the technique through which a runner could go faster to pass a base to go to the next. Rounding the bases means, for a batter/runner, to circle all three bases and come back to home plate to score a point; it could be done on a single play, by hitting a home run, or on different plays(single(s), double(s), triple, base(s) on balls pushing the runner one base ahead, stolen base(s), etc.

Subject field(s)

DEF

The technique used to partially clear the resin from the injection nozzle after the injection cycle. By pulling the screw rearward, the resin is drawn back into the injector.

CONT

Most machines retract the screw slightly at this point to decompress the material to prevent drooling out of the nozzle. This is called the suck back and is usually controlled by a timer.

OBS

When the pressure on the sprue is not held long enough for the resin to cool before the screw returns, some of the hot resin in the cavities or runner system may expand back into the nozzle and cause sink marks on the finished part.

CONT

The main function of the upper body and arm action is to provide balance and promote efficient movement.... The normal arm action during distance running involves shoulder extension to pull the elbow straight back; then as the arm comes forward, the hand will move slightly across the body.... The arm action also contributes a little to the vertical lift during the propulsion phase which may help the runner to be more efficient, reducing the work done by the legs.

CONT

Pour un coureur de 100 mètres, l'action des bras est loin d'être négligeable, il faut donc effectuer beaucoup de travail du haut du corps, d'où ces musculatures importantes.

CONT

CONT

Valve gating. This type of gate is where a pin is held in the gate or channel by spring tension and as the plunger comes forward, it compresses the plastic in the runner. When this pressure build-up is sufficient to overcome the spring tension, the pin is then pushed back(pulled) and the fast decompression of the plastic fills the cavity at extremely high speed.
