BSE are often used in analytical SEM [scanning electron microscopy] along with the spectra made from the characteristic X-rays. Because the intensity of the BSE signal is strongly related to the atomic number (Z) of the specimen, BSE images can provide information about the distribution of different elements in the sample. 5, record 1, English, - back%2Dscattered%20electron

The backscattered electron yield is strongly dependent upon atomic number, qualitatively describes the origin of characteristic rays, and reveals compositional and topographic information about the specimen. 1, record 1, English, - back%2Dscattered%20electron

Electron backscattered diffraction in a scanning electron microscope allows the crystallographic orientation of small grains to be measured precisely. EBSD can be used to study crystallographic preferred orientations, grain boundary and twin characteristics, to quantitatively map grain microstructures and for characterisation of fine-grained phases. We are using the EBSD to investigate the microstructural and crystallographic signatures of deformation recrystallisation and reaction processes in rocks. 1, record 2, English, - electron%20backscattered%20diffraction

[In in situ microanalysis], the(excess) electrons present in a specimen under electron bombardment which are lead to ground and measured as specimen current. The number of absorbed electrons per unit time(or the specimen current), equals the number of primary electrons minus the number of back scattered, secondary and transmitted electrons per unit time. Therefore the fraction of electrons being absorbed depends on many parameters, including the composition and thickness of the specimen, the primary electrons energy, the electron incidence angle and local electrostatic fields when present. 1, record 3, English, - absorbed%20electron

1, record 3, French, - %C3%A9lectron%20absorb%C3%A9
