Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Modern sandpaper is made from four finely ground minerals : flint quartz, garnet, aluminum oxide and silicon carbide. Sandpaper is made(a) with an open grit or(b) with a closed grit... Sandpaper is graded as to coarseness by the size of the grit used. It ranges from a very fine 10/0 to a medium 2/0. These sizes are stamped on the back of the sheet and are read two 0, three 0, four 0, and so on. The coarse sizes are 1/2, 1, 1 1/2, 2, 2 1/2, 3. The more 0's, the finer the paper; the larger the whole number, the coarser the paper. 6, record 2, English, - sandpaper

Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 OBS

All magnetic objects produce invisible lines of force that extend between the poles of the object. An easy way to visualize this is to spread iron filings on a sheet of paper and place a bar magnet under the paper. The iron filings will arrange themselves around the magnet and along the magnetic field lines. In the simplest terms, Earth can be thought of as a dipole(2-pole) magnet. Magnetic field lines radiate between Earth's north and south magnetic poles just as they do between the poles of a bar magnet. Charged particles become trapped on these field lines(just as the iron filings are trapped), forming the magnetosphere. Earth's magnetic field lines are not as symmetrical as those of the bar magnet. The impact of the solar wind causes the lines facing sunward to compress, while the field lines facing away from the Sun stream back to form Earth's magnetotail. The magnetosphere extends into the vacuum of space from approximately 80 to 60, 000 kilometers(50 to 37, 280 miles) on the side toward the Sun, and trails out more than 300, 000 kilometers(186, 500 miles) away from the Sun. 4, record 11, English, - Earth%26rsquo%3Bs%20magnetic%20field

Tapeless splicing is used to form face-veneer panels from several pieces. The backs and faces are glued to the cross bands and the core. The edges of the core are planed on the jointer. The core stock is edge glued and cut to panel size by a clipper machine.... All the plies are then ready to be glued into a sheet. Glue is applied to the sheets of veneer as they go through large rollers.... After the glue is applied to the cross-banded layers, core, face, and back panels, the press-gluing operation begins. The use of the giant hot press... is one of the crucial steps in the manufacture of plywood. Extreme pressure and controlled heat are used to cure(set) the adhesive.... After heating and pressing, skinner and trim saws cut the panel edges and stack the panels in one automatic operation.... 2, record 19, English, - tapeless%20splicer
