This moth, common in Great Britain and Canada’s West Coast, is often found in combination with the brown house moth. It is usually considered to be more of a stored product pest and less of a scavenger than the latter. The worst infestations occur in grain, cereals, and stored seeds such as peas and beans. 1, record 2, English, - white%2Dshouldered%20house%20moth

The adult is easily recognized by its conspicuous white head and thorax. The forewings are greyish-white with darker areas. The males have a wing-spread of about 1. 2 centimetres and the females about 2 centimetres. Most of the adults are females, each of which lays about 100 eggs. Like the brown house moth, the females vary in size and the larger females lay more eggs. The eggs, dull white in colour, are laid in cracks and crevices and often adhere together. The larva, which requires a relative humidity of at least 80% for development, is about 1. 2 centimetres in length and waxy-white in colour. The head and adjoining portion of the back of the adult are reddish-brown. This moth has no dormant stage and under summer conditions and 90% relative humidity, the life of this species takes about 62 days. 1, record 2, English, - white%2Dshouldered%20house%20moth

1, record 2, French, - %26oelig%3Bcophore%20%C3%A0%20%C3%A9paulettes

The BIOLIFTTM process uses the technique of fixed bacteria on a fluidized bed. The purifying biomass is caught on grains of sand which are maintained in fluidization by an upward air flow. The reactor is situated downstream of an activated sludge tank and ensures nitrification of the effluent. At its outlet a recirculation loop channels some of the mixed liquor back to the activated sludge tank-head where the nitrates are broken down into gaseous nitrogen(denitrification). The remaining mixed liquor is channelled towards the clarification stage where the purified water is separated from the sludge. 2, record 3, English, - fixed%20bacterium

The entry from the intermediate pressure hose into the second stage is sealed with a spring-loaded valve. The spring is just strong enough to hold back the intermediate pressure. The valve is also connected to a lever that touches the membrane of the second stage. When a diver inhales, the membrane is pulled inward. This action pushes the lever down. The movement of the lever opens the valve and air can flow into the second stage. When the diver stops inhaling, the membrane moves back to its original position and the second stage valve can close again. 2, record 4, English, - second%20stage

Canada's Walk of Fame, Toronto, Ontario is a walk of fame that acknowledges the achievements and accomplishments of successful Canadians. It consists of a series of stars imbedded in 13 designated blocks worth of sidewalks in Toronto, located in front of Roy Thomson Hall, The Princess of Wales Theatre, and The Royal Alexandra Theatre on King Street as well as Simcoe Street. The first group of members was inducted in 1998, and it has since expanded to include a young filmakers competition and there are plans for a permanent museum. There are 113 Canadians on the walk of fame, including athletes; coaches; actors, directors, writers and producers of movies, television and stage; singers, songwriters and musicians; playwrights; authors; comedians; cartoonists and supermodels. The Walk of Fame was first conceived back in 1996 when founder and current president Peter Soumalias suggested the idea of a Walk of Fame for famous Torontonians to the board of the Toronto Entertainment District Association. They rejected his idea but he went on to establish a Walk of Fame for Canadians in partnership with Bill Ballard, Dusty Cohl and Gary Slaight. In spite of a lack of funds, research and no media plan, they managed to succeed and the first class of inductees was inducted in 1998. 3, record 8, English, - Canada%26rsquo%3Bs%20Walk%20of%20Fame

When superheated steam expands in a turbine it drops in pressure, loses its superheat, and becomes wet... Consequently, this steam is led out of the turbine after it has passed through the early high-pressure stages. It is then piped back to a reheater, a device similar in design and placement to a superheater, where it is reheated to approximately the original superheat temperature. From the reheater, the steam enters the turbine at a succeeding stage and passes through the remainder of the turbine. It exhausts at low pressure and is condensed into water for recirculation to the boiler. 1, record 9, English, - reheater

Line rockets. Also known as "grid rockets," these are small whistling rockets that run along a steel cable. The cable must be securely fastened at each end, and is usually up to 50 metres in length. The Line Rocket is attached to the line by a plastic tube, and takes between 2 and 4 seconds to travel the 50 metres. [Text accompanied by an illustration.] 3, record 14, English, - line%20rocket

The Line Rocket by itself is a great effect--it whizzes along the line at high speed with a terrific whistling noise.... The possible uses for a Line Rocket effect are almost limitless.... Some examples are in order : At the beginning of a concert, you want an effect that will start the show with a "bang. "Picture three or four rockets(more or less depending upon size of venue) streaking from the back of the crowd to the stage. When the rockets "hit" the stage, several theatrical flash effects are triggered, possibly in conjunction with a gerb waterfall effect. 4, record 14, English, - line%20rocket

The sod webworm is an off-white or tan-coloured caterpillar, about 2 cm long, that lives in the thatch layer of grass. Depending upon the species, it may have rows of darker spots along its back. If you have noticed small, whitish-brown moths flying above the lawn in the summer, you may have seen the adult stage of the sod webworm, the lawn moth. The adults are about 1 cm long with a wingspan of 2 cm. When at rest, they hold their wings close to their bodies. Two horns, forming a shape like a snout, protrude from their heads. 1, record 15, English, - sod%20webworm
