Subject field(s)

CONT

Balance exercises keep our bodies strong and stable. We should practice it along with other forms of exercise to gain maximum benefit. Balance is required for everything we do, including activities such as bending, walking, running, or even getting up from a chair. Hence training for balance will help improve your daily life and also prevent falls and injuries that could happen due to lack of balance.

The body weight squat is perhaps the best lower body exercise a person can do. It basically works all the major muscle groups of the thighs, glutes and hamstrings.... Position your feet slightly wider then hip-width apart with your toes slightly turned out. Hold your hands out in front of you at shoulder height. This will counterbalance your weight and help you keep your balance. Slowly and under control, bend your knees and lower yourself down as far as you can without lifting your heels off the floor and then, after a brief pause at the bottom, push your weight back up until you are back at the starting position.

OBS

This bodybuilding exercise is performed without weights.

DEF

A vinyl air-filled ball used for fun, safe and effective exercise, improving strength, flexibility and balance.

CONT

The stability ball, also known as a "physioball" because it was once found solely in physiotherapists’ offices and physical rehabilitation clinics, is becoming increasing popular with fitness enthusiasts. The reason is simple. By using a stability ball you can get a faster, complete full body workout without having to invest in anything other than the ball itself.

CONT

The Swiss ball is essentially a giant beach ball made of durable vinyl ...The Swiss ball has two advantages: one, it provides an unstable platform on which to perform exercises (greater instability supposedly leads to greater recruitment of stabilizing muscles, thus you theoretically reap more benefits from each exercise); and two, it provides an excellent range of motion for ab exercises.

CONT

Fitness balls are the latest hot exercise tool, and for good reason: they make you work muscles that are otherwise easy to neglect.

OBS

Fitness or Swiss Balls were originally used for physical therapy to treat orthopedic and neurological disorders, but now these balls are quickly rolling their way into the world of the general public as an adaptable piece of exercise equipment.

OBS

A well-instructed stability ball workout that’s filmed in a beautiful Jamaican garden. It’s designed to build long, lean muscles as it improves balance and overall body awareness (a natural result of working with and against the ball). Whether you’re lying across the ball for ab crunches or kneeling into it for thigh toning, the inherent emphasis is always alignment and core-muscle stabilization (Pilates-style).

DEF

CONT

Fit ball, ballon suisse, flexiball, ballon d'exercice, ballon stabilisateur [...]

CONT

Face climbing is almost totally an exercise in balance and mental adjustment to exposure.

CONT

Rock climbing can be divided roughly into two types: face climbing, and interior or counterforce climbing.

OBS

Research has shown that while in French climbing techniques are divided into "escalade intérieure" and "escalade extérieure" depending on the configuration of the rock, such a division does not usually appear in recent English texts. Furthermore, it appears that no consensus has yet been reached as to the number of classes in which to divide the climbing techniques. Both these observations have been confirmed by the manager of Toronto’s Mountain and Equipment CO-OP, Mr Bob Matheson, who said that the terms "interior" and "exterior"/"face" climbing are not used, and that each climber names the climbing according to the climbing technique required which, in turn, is determined by the type of rock (the way it presents itself to the climber).

French

Domaine(s)
  • Sports de montagne
CONT
