Examples of Bait & Switch Advertising. How many times have you seen an ad for an item that has a price so low you can barely believe it? And then, when you rush to the store, a store clerk tells you that they just sold the last one. Or, that you don’t qualify for the rate listed in the ad? Or, maybe you’ve seen a competitor's low pricing advertised again and again so that you finally realize that those amazing deals never existed in the first place? They’re called bait-and-switch ads, and unethical businesses use them to lure customers away from your business. 1, record 1, English, - bait%2Dand%2Dswitch%20advertising

Suppose I turn on a very faint sound, so faint that you cannot hear it. I increase its intensity until it stands just at your absolute threshold, where you can barely hear it. That gives us the first step on the ladder. I now increase the intensity until you say yes, that is louder—louder by a JND [just noticeable difference], which gives us the next step on the ladder. 3, record 8, English, - Fechner%26rsquo%3Bs%20Scale%20of%20Sensation

The concept of governance has increasingly become an important concept for social and political thought as well as an influential idea in broader public debates about social and political issues. In its broadest sense, the study of governance examines human interaction and its coordination, in and between organizations and communities. It asks what forms, processes and mechanisms of governance are, as well as what they should be. Created in 1997 at the University of Ottawa by Professor Gilles Paquet at a time when these debates had barely begun, the Centre on Governance is now a part of the School of Political Studies, in the Faculty of Social Sciences, and in partnership with the School of Management. 1, record 19, English, - Centre%20on%20Governance

6, record 26, French, - apprentissage

A grouping or classification of soil structure on the basis of inter-and intra-aggregate adhesion, cohesion, or stability within the profile. Three grades of structure designated from 1 to 3 are : 1) weak [:] poorly formed, indistinct peds, barely evident in place. 2) moderate [:] well-formed distinct peds, moderately durable and evident, but not distinct, in undisturbed soil. 3) strong [:] durable peds that are quite evident in undisturbed soil, adhere weakly to one another, with stand displacement, and become separated when the soil is disturbed. 1, record 62, English, - soil%20structure%20grades

1, record 62, French, - degr%C3%A9%20d%27agr%C3%A9gation%20du%20sol

The idea of gliding tectonics has been broadened(...) under the name of "gravitational tectogenesis". Under this term are included all the phenomena in which gravitation intervenes, from the simple slipping of barely deposited sediments("slumping") to isostatic readjustments on the continental scale, as well as a theory of the deep structure of mountain chains. 1, record 63, English, - gravitational%20tectogenesis
